The look on dad's face was so heartbreaking. The words were so heavy on him that he fell on his knees and cried like a little baby, letting out a scream that startled even the doctor.

'You said that the surgery would work,' I said and both the doctor and dad looked at me. Wondering how a child could understand all that. Dad pulled me close and hugged me so hard that it felt like he was squeezing me.

'It should have worked, but it didn't, her brain hasn't been active for so long and maybe that's why her body rejected the transplant. As justice, the final decision is yours and yours alone,' the doctor continued, and dad let go. From the back Elya came and for the first time the innocent child saw her father in tears and broken.
