"I was talking my cousin Connor, you idiots," I said with exasperation in my voice. "How am I supposed to meet my mate when I haven't been allowed to leave the territory for the last two years?"

The moment those words left my mouth, I regretted having said them. I was sick of the bullying and taunting that it came out. I braced myself for a beating, which usually resulted when I snapped. What happened was bad, the onslaught of verbal abuse.

"Why should you be allowed to leave? So you can embarrass us even more?" asked Mary.

Apparently Josh and Justin thought this was funny because they laughed before Mary had finished her question. She had convinced Josh, that I was after power and that I was wanting to mate with him. Unlike others, I was not opposed to having a male mate, even knowing someday I couldn't have pups if I was mated with another male.

I have never felt that special something for anyone. After Mary convinced Josh of this, they spread it throughout the pack and even my parents believed their trash. Yeah, it would be awesome if my mate was an alpha, but if he/she wasn't, then I wouldn't complain because I would know that he/she was made for me. I hoped that with the change in my pack loyalty I would be able to find my mate, whoever this person was.

I was picked on at school by wolves and humans alike, bullied at home (when my parents cared enough to stay home), and tormented by the pack. Not a day went by that my books were not knocked out of my hands, or I wasn't shoved into lockers, or pushed around. Josh wasn't too bad until Mary started that little rumor. I was not the power-hungry man whore that Mary said I was.

All my life I had believed in waiting for my mate, I hoped that he or she felt the same and had waited for me. One thing for sure, I would never meet him or her if I was to stay here.

"I'm not the embarrassment Mary, you are. I feel sorry for your mate because by the time you find him you'll be all used up. Josh, I hope your mate is strong enough to put up with your crap. I'm going home, you jerks make me sick." I turned around and walked away before I said something I would regret. I couldn't believe that I said that to them because it would make my life harder until I could leave but at that point I didn't care. All I thought about was that I would be out of here soon.

All I took was my clothes and a few personal mementos before all this started, like my photos and a few knickknacks. I wouldn't need much because once I saw Connor and Lisa again everything would be much better and I could start to focus on the future.

Of course by the time I arrived home, a call had already been made to my parents, which surprised that they were even home for a change. That was quick work for Josh; I had only been about five minutes from home. "Jamie, get your butt in here this second!" came the bellow from the living room.

"Yes, Dad. Is there something I can help you with?" I asked.

I didn't look forward to this because I suspected that it was about the incident in the woods. No matter what I said dad would always take Josh's side without letting me explain.

I looked everywhere, but at my dad or mom because dad would have perceived it as a challenge and use it as an excuse to beat me senseless.

"Damn right there is. Can you explain why I received a call from the Alpha saying that you disrespected his son and his friends?"

"I can't help if they don't like the truth. All I said was the truth." My dad cut me off with a slap to the face. I grabbed my face and felt the heat at the point of impact, knowing my face would show his hand print.

"Go to your room and don't even bother coming down for dinner. You're grounded until I say you're not, now get outta my sight," he yelled.

I climbed the stairs to my undecorated and boring bedroom. I was lucky to have a twin bed, a dresser, let alone a desk, and a computer. If they didn't think it was necessary, I wouldn't have had them. Luckily, all my papers for school needed to be typed out on the computer and I had to have access to the internet so that I could do research for my papers.

I turned on my laptop and opened my messenger program. I hoped that Connor or Lisa would be online and offer a little comfort after the day I had. I was anxious and by talking to one of them, I would feel better.

The simple answer would have meant going for a run as my wolf, but it was still too light out for it to be worth the risk. My first shift was painful and I am thankful that it happened while Connor was visiting otherwise someone may have seen me.

True Alphas are the largest wolves in the pack, while Josh is large in his wolf form; my wolf is bigger and pure white. Pure white wolves were rare, but male, pure white wolves were almost nonexistent. They were rumored to have abilities that normal wolves don't have.

Connor was online. DING

"Hey Jay, wanted to make sure that you're alright. Can you give me a call?"

I made sure that my door was shut and locked. I did not want dad coming in while I was on the phone because that would have blown my plans of leaving undetected.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket, dialed Connor, and paced the bedroom floor.

"Hey Jay, are you doing ok? I know our conversation earlier was cut off because of Mary and Josh showing up. You hung up suddenly."

""Hey Con, I'm fine. Just had to deal with their pettiness. I was cheeky with Josh so he called dad. Now I'm grounded until he says I'm not. I'm not even allowed to go down for dinner. I was gonna wait for them to go to bed, then go for a run in the woods. My wolf is anxious right now."

"Alright, be careful when you're on your run."

"Thanks Con. Going to do my homework while I'm waiting for them to go to bed. Talk to you soon. Night."

"Night, Jay."
