I've been grounded for three weeks so far and it sucks. School sucked because Josh and Mary have made my life a living hell since I stood up to them and tried running away. Finals are a lot harder this year with it being my senior year. Two more days of finals then I'm done here, and only three days until I can leave this place behind, I can't wait for that day to come. I was hoping that Connor would be online so I could find out for sure what Alpha and Luna Hannah had decided about letting me join their pack.

"Idiot, watch where you're going!" yelled Mary. "Bet you've failed your finals; and you won't be able to graduate," she said with a sly snarl.

Her laughter echoed down the halls. I wished that she would know how to keep her big mouth shut. I continued walking away because the last time I let her get the best of me I was grounded.

"Josh," Mary, whined, "Jamie thinks he's better than us and doesn't need to apologize for running into me." Mary pouted like the spoiled little brat that she was and man did she have that pout down like a pro.

"I DID NOT even touch you Mary. If you watched where you were going it wouldn't have happened. Again, I didn't touch you." I was going to regret my statement when I arrived home, but I could not help myself.

"You need to apologize RIGHT NOW!" demanded Josh. "After all, didn't you get grounded for talking back to me the other day? You wouldn't want my dad to call again letting him know how disrespectful you're being again, do you?" I wanted to reach out and knock that knowing smirk off his face.

I turned to walk away, when someone grabbed my arm and pulled me back to face Josh, Mary, and the rest of their group.

"I'm not apologizing for something I didn't do."

This was not going to end well, but I couldn't stop myself because I was tired of all of their crap. The next thing I knew there was a fist coming in my direction and because someone had a hold of my arms I couldn't get out of the way fast enough. I had learned early on that it did no good to fight back; in fact it only made the beating worse. Besides, two on one was not exactly a fair fight.

Josh's fist connected with my face, breaking my nose. That was the last hit that I paid attention to because the punches were coming way too fast for me to keep track of.

As I glanced up, Jane Johnson offered me her hand. She was one of the few humans in the school that had never said an ugly word against me or given me any crap, but then again we had never spoken to each other, not even in passinAfter about ten minutes of solid hitting and kicking, it finally stopped when footsteps were heard coming down the hall. As soon as Josh and his group heard the footsteps, they took off running in the other direction.

"Jamie, why do you let everyone bully you like that? Don't you have any pride or self-respect? This doesn't make any sense to me. They've put you through hell for the last two years and you've never stood up for yourself," she frowned.

Although her words seemed harsh, the look on her face spoke of her concern. I stood there looking anywhere but at her because I did not know how to explain why the pack members bullied me. She would never understand it at all; no human could. I went with the easy answer.

"I don't know why they bully me Jane. I tried to fight back when it first started, but it only made matters worse. So I quit fighting back."

I thanked her for her concern and walked away, not noticing her still standing there with worry etched on her features.

I walked home, not a long walk, but it took longer because of the sore muscles and broken ribs. When I walked in the door, my dad was once again sitting there waiting. Josh had called and informed my parents about me talking back to him once again.
