UPPER EAST SIDE, NY.
AND THEN IT SEEMED AS IF THE WORLD WAS CRASHING DOWN ON HER with full force. Ever since that no good rumor by gossip girl was announced to the public everyone believed that Monet and Adelaide were only acting as if they hated each other and were actually lovers.
It didn't help that Monet was milking all the attention in, making sure to rub it all in her face. She didn't even seem bothered by the fact people thought they were dating.
Whispers of Gossip Girl's latest rumors echoed through the halls of Constance as Adelaide Kingsley, Audrey Hope, and Max gathered together, huddled in a secluded corner. The air crackled with a mix of annoyance and curiosity as they contemplated the implications of the gossip surrounding Adelaide and Monet De Haan.
Adelaide couldn't help but scoff at the audacity of Gossip Girl's claims. "It's all just baseless speculation meant to stir up drama," she declared, brushing off the insinuations with a dismissive wave of her hand.
Audrey's eyes sparkled with amusement as she glanced at Adelaide. "Come on, Addie. There's always been an undeniable tension between you and Monet. It's hard to ignore."
Furrowing her brow, Adelaide felt a pang of unease at Audrey's observation. She wasn't accustomed to being caught off guard, especially by her best friend. "It's not what you think, Audrey. Monet and I simply clash because we're both strong-willed individuals. It's nothing more than that."
Max, the voice of reason, interjected, his calm tone breaking through the tension. "Regardless of the truth, Gossip Girl has a way of turning rumors into reality in the minds of others. We need to be prepared for how this might affect our social dynamics."
Adelaide's mind raced, grappling with the implications of the gossip and the potential consequences it could have on her reputation and relationships. "I refuse to let Gossip Girl define who I am," she declared, her voice filled with determination. "If Monet wants to play this game, then so be it. But I won't stoop to her level. We'll rise above the gossip and show everyone that we won't be swayed by their petty dramas."
Audrey nodded, her expression reflecting unwavering support. "You're right, Addie. We can't control what others say, but we can control how we respond. Let's focus on what truly matters – our friendships, our goals, and the experiences we want to have this year."
Max offered a reassuring smile, solidifying their united front. "Exactly. Let's not let Gossip Girl's words poison our relationships or our self-worth. We know who we are, and that's what counts."
As the three friends stood there, resolute and united, the whispers continued to ripple through the hallways. All eyes turned their way, anticipating their next move, waiting to see how this drama would unfold.
Adelaide scanned the room, her gaze meeting Monet's cold stare. Monet stood at the center of attention, surrounded by her clique, reveling in the whispers and speculation. Their eyes locked for a brief moment, a silent challenge passing between them. But Adelaide refused to let Monet provoke her any further.
It also didn't help that Adelaide's parents called to check in on her and told her what they heard from some acquaintances.
"We are so proud of you Adelaide. You are finally doing what's right for this family, hopefully this joining is permanent and then we can have the De Haan and Kingsley name combined into one. Imagine the power play darling." Exclaimed her mother over the phone.
Imagine that the first time your parents tell you they are proud of you, it's because of a rumor that you are dating their business partner's child. It also didn't help that Camille De Haan's abrupt attempts to pair Adelaide and Monet up for dates to social gatherings such derby's or galas.
All in all, it may have just been the worst day of Adelaide's life. The De Haan's had invited her and her parents over for dinner to celebrate. As if there was anything to celebrate. Her parents were going to fly in from god-knows where to dine with them. Honestly Adelaide just didn't know what to say or even think.
The pit in her stomach was filling with resentment. Resentment towards her parents who threw her away like she was last seasons clothing line, until they heard a rumor about her. They didn't even care enough to ask her if it was true or not. She knew that she was the last thing on their mind all they cared for was their image and their money,
Her mother had called the best of the best to make sure she looked up to par with their family name at tonight's dinner. From hair and makeup artists to etiquette lessons from her childhood all over again. Her parents were merely trying to make sure she didn't embarrass them.
