"But I don't understand?" She told me for the 1 millionth time.

" Why haven't you been here for a whole two weeks!"

How could I explain to a six year old that I went to jail? Let alone that her brother's dead! She was confused when anyone tried to explain it because the truth was, she doesn't know what jail and dead means! She's so naive and helpless, she looks up to me! I don't want her to end up like me.

"How about this Liz?" I then bent down to her level.

"I'll get my... Uh... Friend! Friend to explain it to you!"

"*gasp* IS IT NOAH?!"

I had never thought of him!

"Yes?"

"Oh my gosh! When is he coming?"

"Uhhh... Tomorrow?"

"Yay!"

She ran to her room in excitement and I let out a sigh of relief. It was hard enough to answer her consistent yet controversial questions. I went to my phone (flip phone 😍) and went to call Noah.

"Hello?"

"Hi! Uh, Noah could you do a favour for me?"

" Depends on what it is."

"Well I kind of need you to come to my place tomorrow to, well explain to my sister about... It."

" Oh. Ok, i'm fine with that. Is there anything else you want to tell me?"

"Oh yeah! Since we're getting near the end of high-school, I was thinking maybe we can get a part-time job together? It might give us more experience and some money."

"Of course! But what job?"

"Maybe at the pizzeria, but to be a security guard we have to be 18! So we can probably be one of the like helper guides."

"Oh ok! Let's talk about it more tomorrow at your place."

"Ok! Bye, I love you!"

"Wait wh-"

I hung up before he could say anything, my face turned bright red. DID I REALLY JUST SAY I LOVE HIM?!?! LIKE I WAS TALKING TO MY MUM?!?! I hoped he would forget before tomorrow but it was likely not.

( The. Next. Day. 🥴.)

*Ding dong*

I opened the door to see Noah, wearing his normal outfit with a wide smile on his face. I welcome him in and called Elizabeth down.

"NOAH!" She said running up to him and hugging him.

Noah picked her up and gave her an embrace.

"Missed me much?"

She immediately giggled.

" But Elizabeth I want to talk to you about something. Let's sit down."

They sat on the sofa\couch.

"Michael, you don't have to stay, it's fine."

"Thank you." I managed to say.

They talked for what seemed like hours until Noah finally came into my room.

"It took a bit but it went successfully!"

"Thank you!"

Without thinking I ran into his arms hugging him tightly. Instead of letting go he hugged me tighter.

"I love you."

"What was that?"

"Nothing Micheal, nothing."

Once we settled down we sat on my be and chat for a bit.

" Michael, not to be the one to bring it up but at the end of yesterday's call, did you say you love?"

" Well, I, um, so-"

I was cut off by him kissing me on the cheek. WHAT???

"Michael, I love you so much but, we can't be together. It wouldn't be accepted."

"Then let's be friends with benefits!"

"Huh!"

"We can kiss and have sex but we're still technically friends!"

"That's actually a smart idea!"

Well I guess I now have a friend with benefits!
