49: a very happy new year

Just the usual.

Felix and Hyunjin busy acting drunk. Jisung not being able to join because he was too busy cuddling Minho as they haven't seen each other in what they described as "years". Seungmin and Changbin on their phones after everyone forced Chan and Jeongin to go make food for them.

"You carry this and I'll take the rest, okay?" Chan said, giving only the smallest popcorn bowl to Jeongin while he finished sorting out the rest of the food.

"No, just let me help-"

"No. I can't be letting you do more than me" Chan came to his side and loosely held Jeongin's waist in what he would excuse as a side hug if things went wrong. Luckily, they didn't.

Maybe it's the fact that they haven't been this close ever, or it's the fact that Hyunjin was somehow right about everything. But that simple action made Jeongin's breath hitch and he almost dropped the bowl in his hands, making everything worse as Chan had to get even closer to support the bowl and make sure he didn't drop it.

"Oooh~ So he likes you back, huh?"

"Kindly shut up, Hyunjin" Jeongin was blushing even more now. "Or I'll kick your ass into next year"

"But next year's only in... 20 seconds"

"20? Already?" Jeongin just put down the popcorn and went to the others, his little situationship following soon after.

Felix's Twice playlist was faintly playing in the background, as he believed that starting off your year without Twice was like finding out someone ate your last cookie. Disappointing.

"Happy New Year, everyone!"

Aw, that's nice and happy. Going to the next year with all your friends. Together. It would be even nicer if they weren't all sharing midnight kisses with their significant others and making me feel so single rn... According to Jeongin.

It was pretty awkward, just him and Chan standing there as everyone else was all lovey dovey. But Chan always has a fix for awkward silences, and this time he goes with cupping Jeongin's face and planting a long peck on his cheek. "Happy new year, Innie" which definitely worked.

They just stood there, blushing and not believing what just happened, staring into each other's eyes. Thankfully, the sound of a closing door broke them out of their trances.

Halfway through the kiss, Changbin pulled away and let go of Felix, grabbing his wrist and dragging him to the door instead. Luckily no one noticed, they were too busy kissing or... being awkward. Just what he wanted, a silent escape.

"Changbin...? What's all this for?" Felix allowed himself to be dragged across the hall.

"I just wanted to do something special for you" Changbin pulled Felix up a set of stairs and to what was obviously the rooftop. "It's been a while since we've done something like this, you know" he led them along a path of flower petals, many love-related phrases spelled out occasionally. Simple, yet so romantic.

"Changbin.. I..."

Then he led them to a more seckuded area, surrounded by trees instead of the busy streets.

There were fairy lights strung all over the place, perfectly illuminating the place with a nice, soft glow. Some of the lights were strategically placed to make a "Lix ♡" sign right in the middle. Layers upon layers of blankets with a bunch of pillows everywhere created... some type of fort, and a tray of Felix's favourite candies lay in the middle of it all.
