Chapter/issue 4: the dead come knocking

Mason and all the others are around the camp fire he tells them what he had to do to survive in that army camp and how bad it was mason: I had to kill four people before getting here I took there lives just to get here it might've not been right but it was to live or die I had no choice not only that the city got overrun. Matthew: the city was crowded I barely got them out of the city. Shawn: I barely got out too there's so many of those things every corner I turned there was a dozen of em at every step I took we lost three people on our way here. Mason: I can't tell how grateful I am to you too especially you Matt. He smiles mason: I locked that man up there on that roof francis we left him for dead. Mike: I dropped the key I have to tell David his friend that I dropped the key down that drain it's my fault he's up there. Mason: I cuffed him that makes it mine. Noah: guys it's not a competition on who tells him not tryna bring race into this but it might sound better coming from a white guy. Jessica: we could lie. Anna: or tell the truth francis was out of control any longer on that roof with him he would have gotten us killed. She looks at Laura "your husband did what was necessary. Mike: we'll my point is francis is alive I stopped long enough to chain that door we gon gave our hands full when David wakes up tomorrow and doesn't see francis that's on us.
THE NEXT DAY: as everyone does chores mason wakes up as his family are already awake Laura: Good-morning officer. Mason: hey! Laura: hey! As she wonders and says what wrong ? Mason: thinking about the man we left behind. Laura:you're not serious are you asking or telling me ? Mason: I'm asking. Laura: well I think it's a mistake I think it's the worse way to break it down and break your sons hear- as they hear screams from Jonathan as he says DAD MOMMA MOMMY!!!! mason: Shawn!! Throw my gun! As he catches it Laura: Jon Johnny baby!! As he runs into his moms arms mason,Shawn,Richard,Harold,Noah run and see a walker as it's feeding on a deer they sit there shocked as the walker  turns around growling mason takes the first hit and the rest join in in beating the Walker down as Harold takes a final swing in decapitating it Harold: they never come this far up the mountain. Richard: cause they're running out of food in the city that's what. As they hear rustles in the far woods they wait for something to come out deacon pops out Shawn: ah Jesus  deacon: sun of bitch that's my deer look at it all gnawed on by this FILTY SEABEARS MOTHERLESS POXY BASTARD!!!! Harold: calm down that isn't helping. Deacon: what do you know about it old man take that stupid Hatchet go hid in your pond been tracking this deer for miles drag it back to camp think we cut around this chewed up part right here. Matthew: would not risk that. Deacon: it's a damn shame but I got some squirrels about a dozen or so those have to do. As they hear yelling back in camp they see David already knows what went down back in the city as he points his piece at mikes face threatens to shoot him as mason goes to tackle him he gets him on the ground and Shawn unarms him Shawn: come on man we can keep this up all day. Mason: we would like to have a calm discussion do you think we can manage that Do You Think We Can Manage That!! David: so you left francis for dead that what it is cowards all of y'all so let me process this you handcuff francis my friend to a roof and left him!! You bastards hell with All y'all
Laura: he can show you isn't that right? Mason: I'm going back. He gets dressed up and looks at Noah to go with Noah: come on. Mason: you said so yourself you can be in and out of there and you know the way back you said so yourself. Jax : I'm going I was also responsible I'm going with. Matthew: just so you know mason you're putting everyone here at risk just know that mason you saw that walker it was here it was in camp we need every single body we need it here we need it to protect camp. Mason: what you really need are more guns. Noah: right the guns   Matthew: guns what guns. Mason: over 8 machine guns 6 shotguns 4 high powered rifles over a dozen handguns and automatics I dropped another bag along with the one I brought but it has more in it over 3000 rounds In total it's now just sitting on the street waiting to be picked up. Shawn: ammo Laura: Matthew's right francis come on he's not worth one of your lives even with guns thrown in tell make me understand. Mason: look Laura I owe a debt to man I met on the way out of that army camp he got caught I didn't if he escaped I gotta warn him about that horde he has the other walkie talkie we were supposed to reconnect after we got a lil closer that walkie is in that bag he'll run into trouble he doesn't want I need to get that bag and warn him before it's too late.
