How it started

when I was in secondary school I had to help out my family a lot with other members of my family who had medical disabilities. Two of my siblings had disabilities, my brother had cerabolposie, also known as cp, and my sister has a hydrocortisone infancy which has so many underlining health problems. I was struggling to find people who I could talk to and to help support me with these responsibilities and that is when I discovered a group called young carers. I was in this group for most of secondary and then joined an outside group which really helped me and supported me loads. I felt so comfortable to ask them any questions that i may have had and most of the time they would be able to give me an answer, if they were not then they would direct me to someone who would know. I would defiantly recommend seeing if your school has a youth group or young carers that you could sign up to for support if you are helping look after someone with a disability.
