This is the modern world, right? Super weird things don’t really exist, do they?
At least that is what I thought before I got in to THIS. Jake said it is always better to just let my feelings out, but hello? How do you suppose to let your feelings out when in exactly one year’s time, I will probably catch the D as well? Sure, Jake is the wise one, whatever.
On other people’s birthdays, they get phones, laptops, TVs or puppies but what do I get on my fifteen’s birthday? The destruction of the whole town of Beckley Hills, not that I wanted a puppy but has anybody ever got worse birthday present than this; anyone that is aged eighteen or over disappeared, anyone that is sixteen or seventeen suddenly all have the terrible disease. And us, the ones that are between thirteen to sixteen stayed normal and anyone below the age of thirteen suddenly dissolved into the thin air. Wonderful birthday present isn’t it?
It was all normal until two o’clock in the afternoon.
‘Zoe! It is eight o’clock, Mae is waiting for you!’ My mum’s voice seemed to make the whole house vibrate.
‘I am currently brushing my teeth, just a minute.’
‘There isn’t a minute, Zoe! If you don’t hurry up, you won’t catch a bus meaning that you will be late!’
‘Okay, okay.’ I ran down the stairs while brushing my hair, looking around the study, I took my bag and put my shoes on.
‘Where’s Jake?’ I asked, looking for my brother.
‘He is gone for forty minutes now, had to do something at school, why do you ask? It is not that he would walk with you or something and anyway, he goes to a completely different school as you.’
‘Okay, okay, just wished to say goodbye to him. Bye mum!’ I shut the door behind me to avoid further complaining of my mother, she is always bossy, this is probably why she’s got a very bossy and weird daughter, aka me.
The town of Beckley Hills contained three secondary schools; Beckley High, Sir Simon Grammar school for Girls and Sir Simon Grammar school for Boys. Because it is a quite big town, the schools are usually quite crowded meaning that the school buses are especially crowded.
I stormed into the form room, five minutes late again. Just the typical me.
‘Hey, how’s your life going?’ I asked Luanna, the ninja girl or so called by herself.
‘Good, didn’t do any homework yesterday, spent my entire evening watching Hetalia, I only meant to watch it for one hour but I just can’t get Italy out of my head causing disruption of my brain cells. How’s yours?’
‘Fine, I still can’t get my mind around how Mrs Citria gave me a detention, she never gives anybody detentions, I mean, seriously, and it is going to be the first detention in my whole entire life.’
'Look, Zoe. Get. Over. It. You have to get at least one detention in your life. I have no idea why Mrs Citria gave YOU a detention; you are like the ultimate genius of life.'
‘Okay, I will try to calm down so that I won’t have a mind breakdown or something in the middle of the detention.’
After lunch, I was by myself, walking down the science corridor to my first detention; I still can’t get it out of my mind of how Mrs Citria had given me a detention. Mrs Citria never gives detentions, everybody say that she is like a mother, kind and caring (definitely not the detention type).
