.:Chapter Thirty One:.

The herd was furious. Basil wanted to get out of the hut as fast as possible before they escaped, but she was far too injured.

Swift took a step toward Basil, warry.

"What are you waiting for? I want to get out of here!" Basil grumbled. The angel nodded, placing the cloth on one of her wounds.

It instantly began to sting, and Basil had to bite her tongue to not hiss at the angel.

"Hmm..." Basil reached down with her horn, and the angel stepped back quickly, but the unicorn quickly moved forward, tapping the cloth with her horn. As she lightly brushed the fabric, sparks flew in all directions. Basil turned and lied down again.

Swift was looking down at the cloth with a confused expression.

"Uh..?" She said to Basil.

Basil nodded at the cloth. "Try it now." As she spoke, the angel stepped forward and placed the cloth on another cut.

The cut sealed up underneath the piece of linen. "WHOA," Swift gasped, moving the cloth over all of Basil's injuries.

"I should g- Er- I should go," Basil said, standing.

"Oh alright. I have a magic cloth now, so uh. Yeah. Mind if the herd stays? I don't really... want it to be set free against the world..."

Basil nodded, ducking through the door. She was not expecting to be set free that easily... but she wasn't in the forest quite yet.

She seemed to be underground, roots of the trees above dangling from the roof of the giant cave. Whoa- that's cool, Basil's mind flickered.

She stared around at the huts that looked like they would belong on the surface of the earth rather than below it. Shadowcold angels were everywhere, flying above near the roots, walking around the market and going through doorways. Here and there were Earthbound angels as well.

Basil quickly scanned the caves, and spotted the exit on the far end, where most of the angels were going to or coming from.

She took a deep breath and stepped into the bustling mass of angels.

.:Chapter Thirty Two:.

Basil weaved through the crowd of angels, ducking her head and keeping her horn away from them.

Every whisper felt like it was about her. Every voice echoed back to her ears. She felt cramped and extremely claustrophobic in the cave.

As she charged through the crowd, avoiding eye contact and aiming directly for the exit, just as something pushed her sideways.

"AAAAAAAHHHH! I'M SORRY DID I DO SOMETHING?! JUST LET ME OUT, I DIDN'T DO ANY HARM I SWEAR!" Basil cried, folding down and scrunching her eyes closed.

"Uh. I was just asking for identification before you leave..?" A voice said above her. "It's required for anyone leaving or entering the city."

Basil cracked an eye open, looking up as the angel. It was a Shadowcold angel, with short dark hair and small horns.

"Oh. Sorry," Basil choked out.

"It's alright. Name, reason to leave, and do you have security?" The angel said. He flicked his smaller wings thoughtfully and looked at the clipboard in his hands.

"Uh- I don't like to share my information, and JUST LET ME PAST."

"Okay, I can't do that, please wait here when I get someone who can help," He said, walking off to get someone.
