" have you heard about the recent case ? they say its a rather tough one, so they sent it to the police station in the center to have it dealt with quick. "
" mm.. i have. people like to gossip here, so there are many rumors already. they sent it to the center station because it was the nearest one, not so it can be dealt with quickly. everyone knows emergency cases get sent to the center and then dispatched to the stations that are suited to deal with the case. youve been here for years, you know this. "
" i am well aware, just saying that's what people are spreading around. arent ya a bit offended they think the center station has the best reputation ? "
the man paused before answering, collecting his thoughts for a moment. there was too much in his mind to worry about rumors citizens spread, but if it was being brought up by his partner then he could not ignore it even if he tried.
" no. " he said at last, not lifting his eyes from the papers scattered around the front desk. they were the reports from the citizens whose either complaining about the cases or just random things police officers cannot do or interfere.
there was a moment of silent as neither of the voices were heard. as if they got lost into the abyss, all there was to hear were the sounds of papers flipping, the anxious foot tapping against the floor, the calm breathing coming out from both of the officers, and the unpleasant noises coming from air conditioners.
" no ? ... but you do all the work yet they take credit, doesnt that ruffle your feathers ? "
" yeosang, " he sighed, finally letting go of the report he was holding onto just to have some sips from his mug filled with his favorite drink, black coffee, " you know me more than anyone else. why dont you answer your own question ? " a rather cold response, but expected.
" stone cold killer, you are. " yeosang teased, knowing well that his partner despited being called that. it wasn't his fault that the older male had his dark aura around him whenever they both went on missions or patrolling around the town.
while the two began to have a serious talk about the case mentioned, a little girl walked inside. she got on the tips of her toes and waved a hand to catch the attention of the two, though they could barely see her. the tips of her fingers barely made it over the front desk, but nothing can go unnoticed in yeosangs eyes. he paused the conversation with his partner before the little one could hear any more of it.
" excuse me, misters, i need help. " she spoke after the two came to the front and kneeled down, hugging onto her stuffed animal tightly that she brought along her journey to the station.
" hello there, how can we help ? whats your name ? " yeosang asked with a smile, putting a hand out for the girl to grab. he assumed she was lost, its not rare to see a child showing up to their office without any adults with them. it happened quite often around here, so he was ready to guide her anywhere she needed to.
" im byul ! and papas missing ! " she grabbed yeosangs finger, before both of the he could say anything, the young girl started to lead him out the door not until the other stopped them.
" yeosang, youre not allowed to step out of the station. hongjoong prohibited it. " he pinched the bridge of his nose, knowing well the younger had forgotten already. " ill go with the kid, you stay and watch over the place. "
" apologies. " the man lead the girl back to his partner, handing her to him as he stepped behind the front desk again. he sighed, but he was also very grateful the other had reminded him. yeosang would much rather stay behind alone than get scolded by the chief.
" byul, was it ? any idea where your father could have gone ? "
" mm.. you look scary, mister. "
" pff— you- BAHAHAHAHA ! "
