Did I Wake You?

"Did I wake you?" You ask remorsefully.

The serpent's brow crests like a longbow, it's face as large as a chariot.

"Yesss."

"Forgive me, Jormungandr. I wasn't watching my footing." You say with gentle concern.

Looking around, the glint you saw earlier is lost in the blanket of shimmering snow.

A brief moment of silence sets in.

"You've been spending too much time watching them, sssister."

"Our father could be there, hiding." You challenge with feeble hope.

"He is not. I would sssmell him. Instead of trekking to Askurdalr, you should tend to our kin's incessssant howling. He's hardly ceased sssince her departure."

"She's still not back?" You ask despondently.

"No. Nor ssshould we expect her return."

"Where has she gone?"

"Ssshe has gone to look for our father."

"Oh."

"Precissssely."

"I'll see what I can do."

As you leave Jormungandr's chamber, the frozen corridor narrows with curtains of centuries old ice. It's sheen ripples with reflections of yourself, stirring memories of your parents.

1. Remember your father.
2. Remember your mother.
