Chapter 9

"Dad!"

"I was thinking what wine should I drink with Donny later. That man is quite picky when it comes to wine." Napatawa siya ng bahagya. He was talking about Justin's dad and also his bestfriend since highschool. They're basically brothers by heart if I must say. "What do you think? He asked.

It is stored in a wooden crisscross storage protected by the glass door, it is a few meters away front of dad's desk where he usually do his works for business. It has also light that can change into different moods.

Noong bata pa ako, I don't understand why dad loves this collection so much. But now, I finally understands him. It looks fascinating to look at and it represents the thing he loves. Even before I turned eighteen, dad made me taste some of it. Some tastes amazingly sweet and fruity while some can be described as old man's favorite because of it's strong taste.

"That one..." The name plate written below it's storage says Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1946. "How about that one? It has distinct oak flavor and hints of smoke. They will surely love it, that's one of my favorite.

His smile widen when he finally holds it.

"I should be careful not to drop this. This costs over four grand or two hundred fifty thousand in pesos." He chuckled looking at me. "They will surely love this. Aged wine tastes good the long it is stored. Strong wine are the best. Besides this night deserve this wine because tonight is a special night. I finally making your long dream came true hija."

"Dad about that..."

I finally spoke.

"I think we should postpone it for now. I'm..." I took a deep breath. Dad is looking at me while I was finding the courage to look back at him without stuttering. "I'm not ready for it yet. These things between me and Justin are happening way... too fast. I think we should take it slow."

I saw immediate confusion on his eyes. He looked like he's not believing the words I'm saying right now.

"Am I hearing right?" Paglilinaw niya. "You want to postpone your engagement? With Justin?"

"Yes dad..."

"I don't know why are you telling me this. Nag-away ba kayong dalawa?"

I knew it.

Alam kong hindi niya agad ako paniniwalaan. This is strange for him to hear. I've been wishing this to him ever since I was a child.
