16. Sixteen

Natalia

Nothing was stopping Gio as his grip only tightened on Callum. He wouldn't listen and nothing could get through to him. My brothers stood behind papa respecting the decision that had been made. My emotions running high and Callum looking near death, I ran every scenario possible through my head but none of them could break through Gio's souless murderous rage. As Callum's lips became pale and his eyes were closing, I didn't think anymore and just reacted, by pulling out Amir's gun that I had placed in my back and put it to Gio's temple

The eldest of my four brothers who I loved so dearly. The one who always took care of me and trained me and would never would hurt me. Now I stood next to him with a gun pointed at him.

"STOP GIO!" I yelled putting my finger on the trigger. My hand shaking violently as I couldn't believe myself. Gio finally snapped back to reality and focused his eyes to the side to look at me. "What are you doing Natalia?"

"Let Callum Go!" I ordered through my tears.

Gio seethed through his teeth as his rage only grew, "You dare chose him over your own familia (family) Natalia? Your own flesh and blood?"

"He is part of the family whether you like it or not Adrián! He is my daughter's father !" Gio taken aback by me calling him by his first name. The viens in Gio's arms began protruding out of his arm in thick ridges as his grip on Callum tightened. "He took you away from us Natalia, he tried to kill you and had everyone searching for you after all these years and you dare defend him?"

"It's not about me and you know it Adrián! He is Zoey's father!" Now are you going to let go or do I have to go through you dear brother?" I asked no longer crying. A familiar darkness coursing through my body as the gun in my hand no longer shooked with fear. The need to protect had taken over me, I didn't want to resort to it but time wasn't on our hands. Gio's grip loosened on Callum releasing him from his death grip causing to Callum gasp for air, the color returning to his face as he took in deeper breaths as Gio backed away.

I went to Callum helping him up, "are you okay?" I asked as tears fell from my eyes again. "I'm fine love" he smiled wearily. "It appears you've chosen a side" he said looking down at the gun I had just pointed at my own brother. Callum took the gun from my hands and grabbed onto my waist tightly with his other hand taking on a defensive stance.

Papa stood emotionless staring at what had just happened. Gio's eyes slowly looking more human by the second as a loud scream cut through their gazes, "Mateo Adrián De Leon!" Mama's voice yelled walking between the cars.

Papas men lowering their gaze to the floor. "Señora (lady) De Leon!"

"Don't you Señora me! All guards evacuate these grounds NOW! This is family business!" She ordered as she continued marching straight to papa. The men looked to papa for confirmation of this order confused. Papa silently nodding in approval the men quickly loaded back into the range rovers driving off the estate.

Mama finally stood in front of papa, he stood towering over as he looked down at her his face relaxed and a small smile spread across his face as he tried to pull her into a his arms, "mi reina (my queen) "

Mama had her brown hair tied up in a high ponytail with red and silver ribbons and still wearing Angel's school red and silver jersey with a dragon on it. Hinting that she probably rushed over here from one of his basketball games. She swatted papa's arms away landing a heavy slap across his face. "How dare you order our son to kill our grand daughter's father! How dare go against your daughters wishes!" She fumed, and she wasn't done yet either, " Adrián Giovanni!" She boomed as she walked to him.

"You are in charge now! And this is what you do? Attempt to rob your niece of her father and go against your own flesh and bloods request! You dare hurt your own sister and niece!" You dare destroy what is sacred to us? Family?" She yelled through her anger never faultering.

Papa walked behind mama trying to calm her down, "don't you  touch me Mateo!" She yelled. Looking behind him she yelled at the rest of my brothers, "the lot of you get home now before anyone else sees or hears about this!"

"Aleksander if you could give me and my family some privacy." mama asked firmly.

Uncle Aleksander responded in shock, "as you wish Rocio." Not knowing what else to say he walked back towards the truck with Dominik and Tymon following right behind leaving me and my family alone

She looked over to papa focusing her heated gaze, "I will be staying in my parent's estate with Angel." She announced. "I don't want any of you there" she said looking directly at papa with a sharp tone that cut through his darkened gaze.

Mama was never really one for stepping into the dark business. She was married into this life by papa when they were young. As time progressed she'd advise papa here and there but for the most part never did such a thing as this. Her announcing that she would be staying on my grandparents property rocked my brothers and I to our cores. My grandfather had bought mama's parents a home near our estate for them to live near mama after she married papa. When her father passed away my grandmother moved back to California with Aunt Zaira leaving the property uninhabited. The place was maintained regularly and kept clean but no one ever went there anymore.

She walked over to me lightly placing her hand on my cheek, "come see me tomorrow Natalia" she smiled, "I'm glad you're back in Chicago safe. Thank you Callum for taking care of my daughter and grand daughter." She sighed exhaustedly as she turned around towards the truck by the gate that waited for her.

She walked passed papa and not even acknowledging him as she walked back to the truck. The faint shadow of Angel somberly sitting in the front seat with Alejandro. Mama had been trying so hard to give one us a chance at a normal life. She hoped Angel could be that son not involved in this life but even then unfortunate events dragged him into this mess.

I understood mama's perspective on this now that I had Zoey and had tried to do the same. Papa kept a stern look on his face as he turned around towards the Cadillac. He didn't utter a single word as he got inside.

Gio followed silently not even looking at me. Callum's grip on me never loosening as we watched them drive away. "Are you okay Natalia?" He asked looking down at me with his searching me for injuries once it was just us in the field.

"I'm okay" I whispered wiping away a stray tear. He pressed his lips to mine gently testing to see if they were well received by me. I couldn't deny myself his lips anymore. His touch was electrifying and his lips were intoxicating this man...the father of my child was liquid sex in a crystal bottle. My emotions were on over drive and right now I wanted nothing more than to drink him in. I wrapped my arms around his neck bringing him in closer. Our lips locked heavy as the lights around us shut off. Callum paused, "you know your father and brother won't drop this fight right?"

"I know, but for tonight they won't return" I sighed. "Callum " I said as I lowered my eyes away from his gaze and pulled away, " I can't believe they did that even after explaining to them you saved us"

"They're upset Natalia, I would have done the same thing if I found my daughter in the arms of the man who allegedly has been trying to kill her. "

"Gio almost did kill you tonight!" I said worriedly.

"No he didn't love" He said with a stern look on hs face as he pulled out a glock from inside of his coat. "I always had the upper hand on your brother tonight...but I can't hurt your family when I've just found you."

My eyes widened as he pulled out the hidden gun. He had every reason to pull it out and pull the trigger on my brother but he didn't do so. Even after doing what he did. I stood speechless as Callum put the gun away, and brought me in closer to him.

"It's late Natalia, and you've upset me tonight" He said as he lifted me off my feet. "You need to be taught a lesson on disobeying my orders." He whispered against my ear brushing it with his lips.

"What orders?" I said egging him on for more. My mind curious and thrilled for what he had in store for me as the warmth of his breath sent shivers down my spine.

"I told you to stay inside and you didn't and for that there will be consequences mo ghrá (my love)"

The heat radiated down to between my legs were I could feel myself throbbing and wet. My body ready for whatever punishment he had in store. My body giving into it all as he carried me back inside the house.
