You Won't Love Me By Christmas

The next few days were incredibly laborious for Wednesday as she played babysitter to the whining brats. Enid didn't want to sit still, always needing something to occupy her. Ajax and Xavier were always all over each other, wrestling and joking around. By Thursday afternoon Wednesday was completely exhausted and for the first time in two days all four of them were sitting still in the warmth of the library. Wednesday was reading a mystery novel, Enid was painting her nails a starch white, and Ajax was nodding off on the bearskin rug. Gomez had shot, killed, and skinned that rug himself.

Xavier was sitting tucked in the corner sketching the scene. He paid special attention to the slope of Wednesday's nose and the way her hips sat tucked into the side of the chair. Her hair was a bit messy after a long day of chasing the three of them around the house, her braids not as wound tight as usual.

They had spent the morning and a good chunk of the afternoon helping Morticia set up for the gala. They had decorated the entire manor in gold glittering things and red poinsettia. Mixed with the haunting dark aesthetic of the estate made everything feel glamorous. It was breathtaking, Christmas trees in every room and vines of holly strung along the walls. For helping Morticia had presented each of them a unique mask in secret. They would be needed for the gala as it had a masquerade theme. Wednesday thought it was pointless, most of the people attending the ball already hid behind a mask when interacting with the general public, you'd think a room full of supernatural beings would want to be in their super natural state instead of masking their true identity.

Morticia considered this exact situation, creating masks for each individual to represent their true selves. Enid's mask was dainty and made of black lace, the structure of a wolf's face when she put it on. Ajax's mask had designs of serpents. Etched in gold they sat arching over his eyebrow and slithered down his nose.

Wednesday's mask was matte black with much less ornate detail. It had ravens feathers sticking from the sides, giving off a daunting vibe. It reminded Wednesday of roadkill, which she surprisingly liked most about it. Xavier's mask was the most simple of them all, a copy of the phantom's mask from The Phantom of The Opera. A solid white shield covering only half of his face, it was classic and straightforward. The complexity of Xavier hid behind the mask, after all.

The teens attention was drawn to the loud gong of the front doorbell. It stirred an unsettling feeling in Wednesday's stomach, knowing exactly who it was, she always arrived when you least expected her to, ruining everything.

Narcissa Addams is a force to be reckoned with. Much like Wednesday, her cousin Narcissa is a sharpshooter with a strong sense of self. She knows what she wants and she gets it. The only difference between the two was Narcissa's sensual personality. Drop dead gorgeous, the 17 year old girl was tall, lean, and seductive.

Narcissa is a world class gymnast and ballet student in Sydney Australia. The temptress looked much more normal than other Addams, being Wednesday's third cousin, she was still a descendant of her grandmother who was raised from the ashes of a phoenix bird. This gave Narcissa interesting features that melded together to make her appearance memorably breathtaking. Her slender nose filled her short face, hooking at the end. Eyes as green as emeralds pierced through soul and body while her fiery red hair framed her in a surprisingly elegant manner.

While she was beautiful, men beware. Wednesday knew of her real intentions. Narcissa was a tigress dressed in human clothing. Ever since the young age of six Wednesday had despised Narcissa deeply, never getting along with her. On the rare occasion that they were attending the same family event, Narcissa always planned to one-up Wednesday to prove she was a better Addams, not even blood related to the name. The worst of it all was that she hid her wicked personality behind a kind smile and bubbly personality. No one ever believed Wednesday, even when they were kids, when she accused Narcissa of being the devil incarnate.
