Angst with fluff. Mostly fluff though.
Thad x V
About half a year after part two.

It felt horrible. A pain V wasn't sure how to describe. She was falling all over again.
But this time, for him.
The stupid worker had wormed his way into her heart, and into her head. He was so different from her, but she loved it. He listened to her and described things in a way she never thought of before. To her, he was what he might have described as "a burst of colour in a canvas of desolate grey."
So here they were, walking through the snow and talking about simple things.
"Yeah, it's been getting colder lately." Thad frowned, "The school wants to cancel all the after school sports stuff."
V wasn't sure what school was, but it seemed... interesting, from what Thad said anyways. She just didn't like hearing about pretty classmates of Thad's. It made her jealous.
"Well that's where being an almost constantly overheating disassembly drone comes in handy!" V chuckled.
"Lucky you." Thad feigned irritation, when V could clearly see he was smiling. She giggled while staring at him, making him smirk.
"Maybe a lucky drone could cuddle up with you and share some of your overheating-ness on an especially cold night." Thad said in a suggestive tone, nearly making V trip over her own legs.
Well if that's how he was playing, then so be it. V wasn't gonna sit here and just take that.
"Oh, yeah. I'd sure hope so. You workers tend to get rather cold." V made her move, "Like right now. Your hand looks absolutely frigid. I know mine are warm, so let me just warm yours up." V reached out to his hand while talking and held it in her own. His hand was cold, but not as cold as she expected.
Thad blinked a few times, a blush on his visor indicative of his feelings towards V. "Looks like you're already warming up there." V gave him a smug grin.
Thad turned to her and stopped walking, so she stopped as well. "But now one hand is warm, and the rest of me is cold." He pouted at her, prompting her to fix his cold problem. V rolled her eyes, obviously having a soft spot for the worker.
V huffed, trying to hide a smile. She found him adorable. "Fine, fine." She faked a sigh, letting go of his hand and reaching up to unzip her jacket. It was a crop-top jacket on her, so it'd fit Thad mostly normally. She shrugged out of the jacket and handed it to Thad who took it from her and stared at it in his hands.
"What, it's not that big of a deal." V said nervously, trying to figure out why he was acting like this. Thad layered the jacket on top of his other clothes, and grinned at V.
"It's so fluffy and cozy. And of course it's a big deal to me, because it came from you." Thad whispered, breath clouding in the cold air.
V fidgeted with strands of her loose hair, trying to hide her blushing visor. "I hope it makes you feel as warm and fuzzy as you make me feel." She spoke softly.
"Because you make me feel that way." She continued, "And I didn't want to fall so soon after J, but the way you light up my world is undeniable. You make things bearable in this miserable wasteland. You make me feel things I wasn't capable of before. You're always here to listen, and that's one thing I love about you. And your stupid flirty puns, they make me feel so bubbly. Looking at you reminds me the world isn't so terrible."
Thad seemed awestruck at V's confession, and took a deep breath in for one of his own, "I know I'm not much. I mean, I'm a short and small worker while you're a tall and beautiful disassembler. And I know you've been through so much, so if you just wanna keep going with what we have an not call it anything, then I'm cool with that. But I see you, and I think: she's my oasis in this desert. You make me feel a love like blurs of pastel colour in the sunset and sunrise. I'd love to make flirty puns for you anytime. You make me feel so welcome and at home."
V pulled Thad into a tight hug. V felt like her mind was spiraling. She didn't want to loose Thad too. She felt like she was swaying away, like fragile sand in the inescapable wind. "Please stay." She begged him, holding him closer. "I'm not going anywhere." He assured her.
V felt like she was about to break with all the thoughts swirling in her head. She felt a hot tear trace down her face slowly, soon followed by many more. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She repeated. Thad held her close, rubbing circles on her back, "It's okay. Don't worry. You have nothing to be sorry for. I'm right here, and I won't let go until you tell me to let go. I'm here. It's going to be okay. Just take some deep breaths for me, okay?"
V tired to nod her head and do as told, but it resulted in shaky breaths and her choking on her tears. It took a minute of concentration before she stopped crying. Thad kissed her on the cheek. "See, I'm not letting go." He proved to her, still holding her tight in his arms, "I'm staying."
V nodded, breathing evenly now. Her thoughts were much less of a disaster, and she didn't feel like she was about to break anymore. Sometimes she just felt so fragile. She couldn't help but be scared of losing the people she cared about though. But she knew she wouldn't lose Thad. Not this time. She wouldn't lose anyone else. She wouldn't let it happen. And neither would he. They were going to stick together this time. They'd make it through life together.
"I've got you. I won't let anything bad happen right now. I'll fight for you. I'll make sure everything turns out okay." Thad's reassuring words echoed in her head, "we can have a happy ending."
"Promise?" V breathed out the question shakily.
"Pinky promise." Thad swore, wrapping his pinky around hers.
