March 6th; audtions
"Ow!" I yelled, flinching away from my mom. She had burned my neck, yet again.
"Sorry, Bell." She repeated, twisting a strand of my long, dark hair around my curling wand. She insisted on curling my hair for me. I obliged, amusing her. It was actually turning out nicely, minus the fact that she was burning me over and over. "I'm done!" She cheered. I looked in the mirror and smiled. She had done my hair in big, bouncy curls, a few ringlets in my hair as well.
"Thanks, Mom." I hugged her. She added a little hair spray so it would hold and stay bouncy.
"You look like Bella from Twilight." Jake said, snickering.
"No, because she's actually attractive." Blake smirked, making me roll my eyes.
"Mom, can we leave?" I said, ignoring my brothers. I pulled on my boots and jacket, checking myself in the mirror. My makeup was done nicely, not too much, but not too little. I slid my sunglasses on and turned to my mom.
"Yeah! Let's go." We all hurried downstairs and into the car, driving to the arena.
"Wow. So many people are here." I said, looking around at the large crowd waiting to get inside. I took out my white iPhone to snap pictures for my best friends Maggie and Jenna who are back in Texas.
"This is gonna be a long wait." Jake groaned.
"Cameras are coming around for interviews." Blake pointed.
"How do I get them to notice me?" I asked.
"Just ask them to interview you. Duh." Jake said.
"No, that's rude."
"I know. Get the people around us to start singing a song. The cameras will come right over here." Blake said.
"That's not that bad!" I smiled, high fiving him. I thought for a moment before singing the opening lyrics to a song I was sure everyone knew.
"Some nights I stay up, cashing in my bad luck. Some nights I call it a draw. Some nights I wish that my lips could build a castle. Some nights I wish they'd just fall off." I sang loudly and clearly, my brothers joining in, slightly off key. I laughed mid-lyric, but soon people around us were singing and the cameras were on us.
"But I still wake up, I still see your ghost. Oh, Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for, oh. Woah oh oh. Most nights I don't know anymore. Oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, oh." At this point, I was sure the whole crowd was singing when a camera man came up to me.
"Mind if we interview you?" He smiled and I nodded, stepping under the rope. "Just tell us your name and some stuff about you and why you're here." I nodded and he pointed, signaling for me to talk.
"Hi, I'm Bella Taylor. I just flew in from Phoenix a few days ago. I'm originally from a small town in Texas, note my accent." I chuckled, the camera man smiled. "I'm here because singing is something I have a passion for. I've been doing it since I was little. Singing at church and participating in the school talent show every year. It makes me happy and I love it." I smiled at the camera. He nodded, telling me he was done fliming.
"That was great! You'll be seeing that on TV before your audition. I'm confident that you will make it." He patted me on the back and moved on. I turned to my mom and shrieked.
"That was awesome, Bella." She smiled. Jake and Blake nodded in agreement. I smiled as the crowd gradually moved forward. Soon, we were inside and getting my number. A lady pinned it to my dress, wishing me luck and sending me in the waiting area. I was to go in an hour.
