First Time Smiling

You were sitting on the balcony staring into the beautiful dark night.

You took a deep breath of the cold fresh air and sighed it out in the same second.

You've been struggling with depression and anxiety lately. Collage has been a pain in the ass lately.

Ever since a young age, you've been struggling to show your emotions or how you feel in general. Nobody knew if you were sad, happy, angry, disturbed, or any emotion.

You've always struggled with it, you tried but always failed. One time you practiced smiling but it didn't work.

A boy 4 month older than you found you interesting and wanted to get close to you.

You were scared that he was doing this to post about you on social media like all your other 'friends'. But he didn't. He was genuinely interested in you and started to catch feelings.

You also started to catch feeling but you tried your best to deny it, afraid of the idea of love.

He confessed one day, you were shocked. You couldn't comprehent what was going on around you. But you returned the feeling.

He was overjoyed, happy that you liked him back. You were also over the moon but you couldn't express it on your face, afraid he would think you were lying, you said, "I really do like you. Sorry I can't... I can't express it. I hope you understand" "Ofcourse I understand. I don't care Y/n I love you for who you are".

That was the first time someone has ever said something like that to you. You wanted to smile, you wanted to hug him, you wanted to kiss him. But your nature won't let you.

It was all because of your parents. Childhood trauma. Your parents were the strict, abusive type. They always said that you were a disappointment and a disgrace.

They once commented on how you expressed yourself too much for attention. And that led to you know. Expressionless.

Back to the present. You kept thinking of ways to show your love to Beomgyu without struggling.

Ever since you started your relationship with Beomgyu, you've been figuring out ways to show your love, but always failing.

You felt two strong arms wrap themselves around your tiny waist. You closed your eyes knowing exactly whom those arms belonged to.

"How is my princess doing?" Beomgyu asked with a soft voice, his breath tickling your neck.

"Good." You replied with your usual cold voice.

Beomgyu unwrapped his arms from your waist and went inside.

You immediately regretted not saying more. You started overthinking. 'Did I hurt his feelings' 'He probably hates me now and wants to breakup with-' Your thoughts got interrupted by a tap on your shoulder.

"Your overthinking again, I will never breakup with you. You're officially stuck with me forever" He said reading your mind.

He sat down on one of the chairs placed in the balcony with a box in his hands. He gestured you to sit down on the other chair, you did.

"Umm so, I've been working on this thing ever since we started dating and I finally finished it. Just before you open it I just wanna say that, I will love you forever and will treasure you till the day I die. And this is just a small gift to express my love for you. Here. Open it." He confessed handing you the red gift box.

You looked at him with your usual cold face, but inside your heart was doing backflips.

You looked at the box with no emotion and opened it.

It flared open revealing picture of you and Beomgyu ever since the start of your relationship. There were picture of you on dates and candid pictures of you he secretly took.

You stared at the pictures admiring each and everyone of them.

For the first time in 16 years you felt yourself tearing up and a smile urging to appear.

Without realising you smiled while a tear dropped on one of the pictures.

Beomgyu was staring at you with a shocked face. He was beyond shook to see you smiling. He started feeling emotional after seeing you smile for the first time.

You looked up and saw tears streaming down Beomgyus face. You started panicking but didn't show.

"You okay?" You asked with a cold tone but trying to hint that you're genuinely worried.

"Absolutely amazing." He said simply standing up and pulling you up as well.

He hugged you while resting his head on your shoulder.

You were shook by the sudden skin contact but you let him be. You felt your shoulder getting wet so you removed his head from your shoulder and looked at him in the eye.

"What's going on" You said coldly.

"You don't know how beautiful you look when you smile, love" He said tears brimming in his eyes.

You were shook but couldn't show it. "I smiled?" You asked secretly happy that you made progress with your expressions.

Instead of answering, Beomgyu pulled you on him as he sat down, making tou collapse on his lap.

"I promise I will help you. I will love you. And I will never leave you..... you know what makes this better? You smiled for the first time in YEARS... because of me.... I love you" He said looking at you with heart eyes.

"....I love you too" You said wrapping your arms around his neck. Snuggling in the crook of his neck, you secretly smiled without practice.

This man is driving me insane.
