I woke up in the same dark, messy room that I've gotten used to seeing every morning, my right leg hanging off the edge of the bed as I laid on my stomach hugging my pillow close to my face. I pushed the covers off of me and stood up, closing my eyes tightly as I stretched, yawning as I did. I opened my eyes and turned to the large mirror across from my bed and above my dresser, I stared deeply into the reflection as I walked toward the dresser.

my two toned hair messy from sleep, my light brown eyes still adjusting to being awake, the silver stud snakebite piercings under my lip still aching from my pillow, my septum piercing crooked, and the metal earlobe gauges i forgot to replace with silicone ones before bed last night still there, reminding me of my laziness. I grabbed my favorite band t-shirt and slipped it on, covering the tattoos scattered across my chest and back, the geometric tattoos on my arms still showing, then grabbing a pair of black jeans with hand painted red and white designs and pulling them on over my boxers.

I walked out of my bedroom and into the kitchen of the small, lonely apartment and I scoured the fridge for anything edible "shit..." I sighed, "no luck." I turned around and walked back to my bedroom, picking up a random pair of black doc martens with a slight platform from my floor, pulling open one of my drawers and grabbing a pair of socks, then picking my favorite leather jacket off the desk chair in the corner and putting them all on.

I left the bedroom and grabbed my keys and motorcycle helmet as I walked out the door and locked it. I made my way down the long hallway to the elevator and checked my pockets for my phone and wallet before I got too far. I got to the elevator, pressing the down button then leaning against the wall scrolling through my phone. After a few minutes I heard the ringing that told me the doors were going to open. I pushed myself off the wall and walked into the elevator once the doors opened. I turned around and pushed my phone into my pocket, looking up to press the button that was marked #1 only to see that it was already pressed.

I turned around, looking for someone else, and there he was. He had tucked himself into the back corner on my right, he was quiet, wearing headphones that were blasting "closer" by Nine Inch Nails just loud enough that I could make out the song, he was wearing a jean jacket with cutoff sleeves and metal-band patches, mid wash ripped jeans, red converse covered in doodles, and a slipknot hoodie. Most notable though, was his face. He had big brown kind looking doe eyes, dark brown hair, and an adorable set of freckles. I felt my face heat up as it turned a light pink. "Marco?"

He looked up from his phone, pulling his headphones off and looking me in the eyes, I could see surprise and recognition flash across his face, "jean? Is that you?" I stared back at him, expressionless, completely in awe. I hadn't seen Marco since... since the fight. I had no idea what to say, I was sure he hated me, he had to, with the things I said to him...

The elevator rang, letting us know we had reached the first floor of the apartment building, Marco's head turned quickly to the door as he pushed himself off the wall, he walked quickly out of the elevator as soon as the doors opened before turning back to look at me, he looked me up and down with a slightly sad expression then walked away. I shook my head, releasing myself from the frozen, shocked state I was in. I couldn't just let him go like that.

I ran out of the elevator holding my motorcycle helmet tightly in my right hand, as I caught up to him I reached out to him with my left hand, lightly grabbing his wrist, he stopped and looked at me as I pulled him into a tight hug, dropping my helmet and resting my forehead on his shoulder, "I'm sorry..." I whispered with tears welling up in my eyes, refusing to let a single one fall, "I'm so sorry for what I said to you back then, I was a stupid teenager and I didn't mean any of it, you didn't deserve that. I should've been a better friend."

I felt his arms wrap around me as I continued, "I know I shouldn't have said those things to you, I never wanted to ruin our friendship, I never wanted to lose you, I was just jealous. I didn't understand how you could be so comfortable in your own skin, how your family could just accept you without any problems. You knew who you were and were confident in that... that was something I couldn't do." I pulled away slightly, looking into his eyes. " I shouldn't have hurt you because I was scared of myself. I don't blame you if you can't forgive me, but this has been eating away at me since the day I said it, since you said you hated me. I just needed to apologize."

I tried to leave but Marco didn't let go, he only hugged me tighter, "it's ok jean, that's all I needed to hear... it was a long time ago..." he whispered, "I missed you so much." I looked up at him and he smiled back at me, "Cmon, let's go get some breakfast, sound good?" I smiled at him and nodded "yeah, I'd like that." I said as I leaned down and picked up my helmet. I held it up to him and grinned, "wanna take my ride? I've got an extra helmet; I just have to run back up to my apartment to get it." He gave me that same bright, wide, joyful smile that I hadn't seen since I was 16, joined with his youthful, bright laugh... I felt my face turning red, embarrassed, I slid on my motorcycle helmet and flipped down the visor before he could see me blushing.

I waved to him quickly before running off to the elevator while he waited there. I clicked the up button and the elevator door immediately opened, I walked in and pressed the #4 button then leaned on the back wall and slid down to sit as the door shut, I pulled the helmet off with my right hand and placed my left hand on my chest, my heart was beating at a mile a minute.

The elevator door pinged, and I pushed myself off the floor, speed walking back to my apartment pulling my keys from my pocket and unlocking the door, pushing it open and reaching just inside the doorway to the coat hooks, grabbing the extra helmet before leaving and locking the door again and going back to the elevator and down to the first floor, putting the helmet back on in the elevator.

Marco was there waiting for me, I walked over to him, "hey, ready to go?" I said, gently tossing him the helmet once I got closer, "yeah, let's go!" He said, running his fingers through his hair and putting his helmet on. I started walking down the hallway full of numbered doors as Marco followed close behind, once we made it out of the building I walked over to my black and red Kawasaki ninja 650 and unlocked the anti-theft brake lock, pulling it off the brake disc and putting it in the under-seat storage tray. I got on the bike then turned to him, "have you ridden a motorcycle before?" He gave me a slight nervous laugh and shook his head, "no, sadly, I've always wanted to, but I never got the chance." "That's fine, here..." I grabbed his right hand with my left pulling him over to the bike, "there's another seat above the one where I'm sitting, it's the one I lifted up to put away the brake lock, that's where you sit, can you switch hands so I'm holding your left?" Marco let go of my hand and gave me his left one instead, then he got onto the back of the bike.

"Good, ok now lean forward so you're leaning against my back and put your feet on those poles sticking out above the back wheel." I reached my right hand back, and he held onto it with his right, after I had both his hands, I guided his arms around my waist and let go of him, "now just interlock your fingers tightly so you're secure. You got it?" He nodded, "I think so... you can start the engine now." "Alright, hold on tight!" I put the key in the ignition and started the engine, I carefully pulled out of the parking space and turned the bike around, pulling my feet up and resting them on the bike as I picked up speed. As we went faster, I felt Marco's grip tighten around my waist and I smiled, he's just as adorable as I remember...

The first chapter is done :D
I have no idea why I tortured myself by insisting on doing actual research on motorcycles instead of just going with what I know lol, but I hope y'all liked it :)
