As Christmas rolled around, every monster on Cold Island's mood brightened and they busied themselves redecorating the island. Around this time you often accompanied the island so you could pitch in with the celebrations.
But as they did every year, any monster that could safely cross the bridges to the other islands would do so to meet up with their families.
As you watched them file out in groups, you felt a weight come off your shoulders, as for the next week you'd be temporarily relieved of your duties in managing the islands while the monsters spent the holidays together.
This year was different, as you usually took to Earth Island to keep warm, but you had caught wind that a lot of the monsters and their families had the same idea, and Earth Island would be rather full. You figured that this year you would appreciate a more quiet holiday break.
So, that entailed you packing some of your personal items and lugging them to the Humble Hotel of Cold Island, opting to take the grand suit for yourself for a change. It felt nice to indulge in a little you-time during the holidays. After a nice soak in an ergonomic shower(one that you'd never guess to see, as it was designed to fit many types of monsters), you got into your usual clothes and threw open the doors to the balcony, revealing the sunset that was taking place outside. You never really spent a lot of time at Cold Island, being it's temperature, so you've never really appreciated the sunset as much as you did now.
But, while minding the chill of the breeze, you stopped marveling once you saw a large figure in the distance. It was definitely moving, ever so slightly in random intervals of time. It kind of resembled breathing, or slight shivering. As it was beginning to be dark outside, your interest was piqued. You were worried that there had been a monster left behind while traveling, and it was lost on an island they weren't familiar with. In your head, you debated going down to see what it was. To your knowledge, there were very few left on the island, and you could only theorize too little to allow your mind to rest. So, in order to calm your fixated brain, you took off after grabbing your winter gear and a flashlight.
Once you stepped outside the lobby you set off into the darkness of the cold forest, slowly weaving your way through the dense evergreen trees that had been coated in snow. Brushing past the flora of the island, you finally came to the place you saw the ominous figure. You adjusted your scarf closer to your face to prevent the cold from getting you sick, and you turned on your flashlight to investigate.
However, when you shone it onto the figure of your interest, you were pretty let down to see the Cold Wubbox. Knowing this now, you sighed out in disappointment. You and the Wubbox weren't the greatest fans of each other. As you didn't expect it, you also realized that with him being so big, he really didn't have the ability to cross the bridges to see the others. As far as you knew, many bigger quad-element monsters stayed behind for the same reason, and the Wubboxes, of course, were no exception with their massive size.
But, while in your thoughts, you didn't know that the light was shining directly into his eyes, and you felt the ground beneath you vibrate slightly, causing you to draw your attention back to the current space before you, watching in awe as the large Wubbox came to life from his original static position. He illuminated a bit of a light blue light, emitted from the sparks that connected his limbs.
"You shouldn't really be going around shining lights in sleeping monster's eyes," He grumbled, still a bit groggy, "isn't really the politest thing to do." He harbored a look of impatience while he sat up, halfway lying down from before.
You bit your lip as you cringed at your impertinence. Embarrassed, you explained, "Sorry, Cold, I happened to see you from my room at the hotel. I thought you were a lost monster or something."
