A wave of embarrassment washed over the poor Wubbox as a slew of monsters spat backhanded comments toward him. Trying to avert his gaze from the Island's Pom-Pom as she jabbed at him, "The island would just be, like, so much more harmonious without that loud yelling and stomping."

Pretending not to care, he replied, "The song needs some bass."

"But the yelling? That's got to be too much. I really don't get why [Y/N] doesn't mute you." His facade cracked a bit when the Dandidoo mentioned your name.

Lifting a finger to make a point, but ultimately retracting as he really didn't have a response. When it came to you, he really lost all of his words. Instead of a witty remark, he stammered, "You know what? Whatever, sing your stupid song without me." Then he stomped away, ground shaking more than usual with every step as he disappeared from the populated area.

Meanwhile, you had just arrived from the bridge and you were able to catch just a bit of the previous conversation. Your fists balled when you played back the captured conversation just a few minutes ago. You couldn't believe the monsters you care for would be so mean to each other!

After scolding each one with a passive-aggressive side-eye, you took off into the direction he was headed. Of course, your little legs couldn't keep up as much—as you also stopped to take a few breaks, you were still able to catch up with him. As much as you didn't want to admit, you shared a very prominent fondness in the tall piece of metal and mysterious magic. You had to say that out of all of his kind, he was the most interesting looking; down to his neon blue highlights and swirly patterns, he closely resembled some sort of ancient cave that was ripe with historic pictorials.

But, approaching in on his stopping point, you leaned on your knees to catch your breath. In the meantime, he eyed you down cautiously. Backhandedly, he remarked, "What, are you here to put me on mute?"

You quickly rose to an affirmative stance and jabbed a finger at him while you defended yourself, "Are you kidding me?" You huffed, "Did you really let their words get to you? Everyone has a place in the song, even you."

He seemed a little taken aback by your sudden defensive nature, seemingly offended that he would assume you'd be on everyone else's side. Even in his large nature he still felt a little embarrassed getting a talking-to by a much smaller human.

He folded his rather large arms, huffing, "If everyone else was saying those things to you, you wouldn't let it get to you?"

This did make you realize that you might have, if you were in his shoes. Even so you couldn't even imagine being a part in the song. Sure, you loved to sing to yourself but considering an audience, you would simply crumple beneath each judgemental stare. In a desperate attempt to change the subject, you piped up an offer, "You know what, I've got a lot to take care of right now. You should tag along, it'll get your mind off of it."

He paused, averting his large eyes, "I don't know..."

You frowned. "It's not really an offer. I just got a bunch of trees chopped down so you've gotta move 'em." He grumbled but you did provide him some reassurance, "Don't worry your huge head off, there won't be any  other monsters where we're going."

Motivated by that sole detail, he reluctantly followed you into the deeper part of the woods, which looked a little less dense than before. There were various piles of chopped wood lying around from the many terraforming escapades you had been on.

With your instruction, he irritatedly threw some of the piles onto his shoulder, lugging them to the designated area to be repurposed. For the moments away from you he took a minute to think; you always were kind to him, although he was so different from the others. Ever since you reanimated him you were nothing but sweet and helpful. While even neglecting the needs of other monsters to accompany him, it was only now did he actually realize how much you did for him.

Coming back over to where he left you, you were now hunched over some logs, sitting on one still intact, tying them in little bundles. But, he raised an eyebrow when he listened closely, hearing your faint voice from below gently singing a tune. It was like silk; your voice much softer than his own and many other monsters. The closest he could compare it to was maybe the Werdos, but they still had an off shrill to their voice.

"Is that a human sound?" He asked suddenly, not aware of your immediate gasp. You dropped what you were holding and all the wood pieces tumbled to the ground.

As you struggled to find your composure as you had completely forgotten you were awaiting his return, you stammered a response, "No, um, humans have a lot of different sounds."

He tilted his head, "Then which one do you make?" He was genuinely curious now, and was now sitting cross-legged in front of you, towering over you (which took him a bit of an effort, as when he settled down he generated a shake in the earth around you both.) He looked down at you in complete admiration and wonder while awaiting your response.

Nervously you cleared your throat, "The one you-you heard, I guessed," still unsure of what to say, you felt your palms begin to sweat, "Honestly, I wasn't doing anything too serious, I was just singing while doing work."

He cracked a half-smile, "So you sing? Like a Werdo?" The golden wubbox rested a stone hand on his 'chin,' leaning closer, "Say, then why don't you join the song?"

You were flabbergasted at his lighthearted request, "What? No way, I don't have a place in the song."

He tilted his head at this, a smug grin plastered across his face, "Interesting you say that. I recall you saying something about how everyone has a place in the song."

When he pointed this out, a blush covered your face realizing you contradicted yourself. "What I said goes for you monsters— not me, the human who's just directed you guys."

He hummed, obvious he wasn't really buying your explanation. It seemed more like you were reassuring yourself rather than him, but he was happy enough to just hear you become embarrassed over his words. But, to make it up to you he shyly proposed: "Hey, since we both don't fit in, let's just make our own song," he slowly held a giant finger out for you to take, a blush now ridden across his features, "...Together."

While you enjoyed the sentiment, you really couldn't help but freeze at his offer. It was surely a wild gesture from him, and his affection was definitely enough to make you stammer and threaten your eyes to look away. But, butterflies in your stomach and all, you placed your much tinier hand on his and giggled nervously, "sure, why not?"
