Touya found himself clutching his new elephant plush tightly, hand raised to Himiko's door. He faltered a moment before knocking. He'd never reached out to her before this point, usually she came and found him. She opened the door with a smile.
"What's up Dabi?" she smiled, clearly noticing the stuffed animal. He pointed into her room and she let him in and closed the door. She quickly noticed the boy's frown. "What's wrong, sweetie?" she asked again, softly as she sat on the bed next to him.
"Ears!" he whined, teddy forgotten as he pulled his hair up to emmulate cat ears.
"Oh no, where are they?"
"Broke." He frowned again as his bottom lip shook. She could tell by the shaky breathing and red eyes that he was about to cry. She slowly reached to touch him and he didnt complain, leaning into her touch.
"It's okay my darling kitten, we can get more. Or..." She paysed for a second to think, "We could make some." She fumbled around in her draw for a second and Dabi whined, wanting cuddles again. She found a weird looking brush and some hairspray and grinned.
If her kitty's head was anything to go off, he was confused at what she was holding. "Bare with me kitten." She grabbed a section of his hair and began to back comb it softly, hair spraying strands up. She did the same on the other side then showed Dabi her creation in a small mirror. She'd used his hair and a lot of hairspray to create makeshift cat ears that came from his own head.
He giggled excitedly at the sight of his new cat ears. Himiko knew they wouldn't last forever but her little kitty was happy for the time being so she'd jump that hurdle when she got there.
After the kittens panic about his broken cat ears, he's wound himself up so much he now found himself falling asleep sat up. He leaned forward, head resting gently on Himiko's shoulder. She crossed her legs and pulled the boy as close as possible. He got comfy, face buried into her hoodie, breathing in her scent. That sweet comforting scent he loved oh so much.
"It's okay kitty cat. You can have a nap." Himiko sang in a sing-song voice. As he lifted his head, she gave him a soft kiss on the forehead.
It had become quite the pattern for the two to end most nights curled up together, Himiko pushing strands of hair from Touya's face as he made gentle biscuits into the blanket or her stomach or whatever was closest to him. Touya always fell asleep first, comforted by the smell of Himiko's room and the comfort of her embrace and the gentle touches of her fingers across his face and the soft chaste kisses placed upon his nose and cheeks. And if he woke up with a nightmare, his mama was right there to comfort him, and he'd fall asleep all the same. With her. With the one he loved.
