TW// The start is A LOT, theres alcohol, emetophobia mentions and obviously some abuse (it's dabi) Apologies <3
The league sat around the tv, Magne sat on the floor next to Dabi who was between toga's legs. Beside toga sat Twice. On the couch next to theirs, Shiggy and Kurogiri sat, staring intently at the tv. Spinner stood behind them, hands on the back of the couch. A few other villains were sprawled about on the floor or stood around with beer and the likes.
They were watching the news reports following the attack they'd led on UA not even 4 hours prior.
Dabi hated it. Crammed into such a small room with so many people. None of them had any moral compass (not that he could complain in that department) and most of them were drunk or on their way. That was never a good mix.
The smell was knocking him sick. He couldn't help but get reminded of his childhood. There were a few instances where Endeavour would get 'to drained' from their 'training' sessions, too sick of trying to create the perfect hero, too sick of the kids and the wife and the arranged life he didn't know if he wanted. On days like that, he'd drink.
He remembered Endeavour pulling a 4 pack from the fridge and landing with a thud against the couch. He'd sigh loudly and mumble something about, "These fucking children, so ungrateful. And after everything I do for them."
After that, he'd flick on the news, get angrier and angrier at each villain they spoke off and with each villain, he'd down a can. Once he was out, Rei became his personal slave. Not that she wasn't already. These days were worse. Much worse.
"I'm out!" he shouted. He waited for a response. None came. No beer was placed into his hand. "Rei!? Don't fucking ignore me!" No response came. He groaned loudly. "Touya!" he called. The small boy scurried into the living room.
"Yes father?" He tried not to seem exasperated.
"Where's your mother? And get me a beer!" he shouted, despite the small boy being a mere foot away.
"She's at Grandma Teka's, remember? She should be back any time now."
The boy silently scurried of to get another four pack for the man. If you could call him that. He then raced upstairs. Fuyumi and Natsuo were curled up on Touya's bed, tears trickling down their face.
"I'll handle it, don't you two worry. My prince-" he paused to kiss Natsuo's forehead, "And princess," he then kissed Fuyumi's forehead. Another scream sounded from downstairs and Touya tried not to startle as he left the room. If he had to take another beating, he would, but only heaven would know how afraid he was, the kids didn't need the extra fear factor.
He could feel his breathing increase with each step he descended. He found himself frozen in front of the towering man. Had they been the same size, he may be just a little less intimidating, but they weren't, Touya was only 10, and small for it.
He didn't register the words spoken to him, just the sting of pain against his left cheek as he fell to the floor silently. The words started to become clearer again as he looked up at Endeavour. "I can't believe you Touya!" He watched in fear as time seemingly slowed and sped up simultaneously. He clenched his eyes shut and looked away, waiting for the slap he was sure would come.
When he opened his eyes, he found big golden ones staring back at him in concern. He took in a deep breathe only to find he'd forgotten to breathe in first. He looked around to find the room had cleared out. He threw himself into Himiko's arms, breathing deeply. He hadn't realised how stupid it seemed to think he was 10 and still at home until the flashback ended and he hated that he hadn't recognised it sooner. Hated that deep down, the trauma of his childhood still affected him. Most of all, he hated that he'd done it in front of everyone.
"Hey, talk to me. Dabi, you there?"
He couldn't muster the energy to speak - or maybe he'd gone non-verbal - so he nodded into the girls shoulder, arms wrapped tightly around her waist as if he was scared the memories would pull him from her grasp once more. She held him tighter and he felt the fear finally leave him. Her embrace was safe. He was safe here.
