Umbra's backstory

a drow angel half breed, Umbra spent her life living with her drow father's family due to her mother leaving her with him when she was an infant. Growing up she was whipped daily by her aunts who made sure to let her know how little she was valued by the family due to her angel blood, her training left her with insecurities regarding her arms to the point she avoids showing them at all costs.

Once when she was 14 she made the mistake of mentioning the dark maiden in her family chappal for which her aunt sos'umptu punished her with a lash from her snake whip across her face which left a double fang scar across her left eye which umbra constantly covers up with her hair and then an eye patch that was gifted to her from a friend.

Throughout her life she barely saw her parents but she saw her mother a lot less than she saw her father, with her mother only talking to her when she wanted to rant about her father or required something of her.

She took up music as a way to try appease her ruthless aunts which didn't really work but it did provide a way for her father to make use of her talents which he often did when he wanted to gather information about a certain house or events that were happening in the city of spiders.

As a reward for her service and hard work her father arranged for her uncle to train her in arcane magic as he was interested in how she could cast spells from musical instruments and songs

Eventually her family home fell and all her relatives were killed in the fall making her the technical matron mother of her house which lead to her asking her father to help her where she now adventures with her new found friends to try and save a town from a dragon and make the town a better place.

Shortly after she started doing work for her father through being hired out by bregan d'aerthe when she still lived in house Baenre, she met her fathers second in command and co-caption Kimmuriel whom she got along well with, eventually the she started doing private performances for him which progressed into the pair courting and becoming the drow equivalent of a couple with the two caring for each other privately and hiding the relationship in the public eye to avoid damages to each others reputation.

To avoid suspicion Kimmuriel claimed that he was teaching umbra psionic magic which he did do along with their other activities.

When umbra's house fell she was at home, as house Baenre fell she managed to escape into the underdark around the city away from the riots and uprising, however unbeknownst to her Kimmuriel had watched her house fall down in flames and assumed her to be dead. By the time Umbra got to her fathers headquarters Kimmuriel had already left to the illithid hive mind his place of solitude and peace if the drow had such thing.

When Umbra tried to find Kimmuriel one of his men informed her that he had saw her house fall and assumed her dead and had left to the mind hive to settle his thoughts and grieve in private and was set to be gone for at least the next two months, Umbra tried to reach out mentally but could not get through the mental barriers her love had set up.

Umbra wanted to wait it out but her father insisted it wouldn't be safe for her in the underdark and escorted her to the surface.

Once Umbra got to Luskan she spent a couple days there trying desperately to reach and console her love before rumours spread about a dragon attack so umbra asked her father to tell Kimmuriel she had survived and then set off to checkout the rumour and hopefully help out and slay the dragon threat.
