Description: This was our first writing of the semester. We were assigned to write an essay on why we chose to take Creative Writing, what genre we enjoy writing about, and why language is important.
The written word is a very important aspect in our day-to-day lives. We depend on it so that we can learn about the world around us, communicate with our peers, and express how we feel. However, the beauty of writing creatively is that the author has the ability to send a deeper message through their work or plainly entertain the audience. Authors are able to take our communicative language and transform it into a story or an expression that is not tangible, yet we see it in it's entirety. Writing is a portal to a world that is foreign to us, but is familiar enough so that we can relate and communicate with one another in a completely new form.
I have been wanting to take Creative Writing for some time. I will always remember how in middle school my english teacher spent almost an entire quarter doing a writers workshop with us to open our horizons to writing. That was the first time I noticed my love for creating fantasy worlds and imagining that which is impossible on earth. I have always had an impressive imagination that allows me to vividly see and feel the scenario I wish to form. I love being able to piece through a book and get lost in the pages of the story where I truly feel like I teleported to a new dimension that is not my own and am placed in the character's shoes. Creative writing can not only be a way to purge and express myself and improve my writing skills, but I look forward to sending a deeper, more complex message to the audience; making them ponder and witness our world differently when they put down my work.
As I mentioned before, I enjoy writing fantasy and adventure stories, so I am most excited for fictional assignments. I love being able to think outside of the box and create something no one has ever thought of before. Its cool to me how I have the power to paint a picture in someone's head through words rather than images. I also love integrating statements about human nature and why we behave the way we do into my writing because I believe that every great story opens something up inside of us that guides us to get a better understanding of who we are. Through creative writing I hope to be able to improve my story telling and plotting so that the worlds inside my head come out beautifully into our world on paper.
Language is a strange concept to grasp. Someone at some point in human history made up each word using a serious of sounds and syllables and from that moment the people that spoke that language connected the term to the object or feeling. Language is our way of being able to communicate and understand one another. It is extremely complex yet we use it constantly like it is a second nature. Without communication, we wouldn't be nearly as far advanced in our understanding of technology, government, and relationships as we are today. Language is also an invisible portal into the hearts and minds of other people so that we can relate and understand one another while building life-long, mutual relationships. No other aspect of life is as nurturing and bonding amongst communities as language is.
Even though words can be seen when written on paper, our minds analyze them, hear them, and then connect the word to a feeling or object that may or may not be physically there. It's incredible to think about how powerful words can be. They can be uplifting, discouraging, hilarious, enlightening, or they can touch our hearts in a certain way like nothing has ever before. Words and stories make us feel something, and thats what is so beautiful about writing. The way that words can change our character if we allow them to open up our inner-selves and connect with what is in our hearts is pretty amazing.

Short StoryThis past semester I took a Creative Writing class in which I enjoyed every minute of it. I decided that I might as well put up some of the stories, poems, and dramas that we wrote throughout the semester so that people could read them. To be honest...
