Elain ran a hand through her hair as she sat in the penthouse alone. She laid comfortably in one of the chairs overlooking the city as she enjoyed the view. Max had left earlier to take care of something, leaving her alone in their private space in Delcour.

Delcour was a twenty-two-story skyscraper, built to house apartments and penthouses. Entirely black with gold fixtures on the outside, it was a work of art, and the interior was just as ornate.

Mrs. Crist had insisted that she move into one of the penthouses when her and Max decided to live together. Elain had tried to protest, but it was no use. Mrs. Crist always got what she wanted.

The space was beautiful, large and luxurious, entirely too perfect. Not to mention the jaw dropping view, a horizon of building that touched the sky and millions of people down below.

The only downside was of who lives on the twenty second floor. Michael Crist. When she discovered he lived there it was almost a deal breaker for her, but unfortunately Max didn't want to leave. He loved it and it was everything he could've wanted.

Michael being there made Elain feel like she was right back in Thunder Bay. Him watching her, staring at her like he wanted to devour her. He'd never looked at her like that until Max. Yes, there were the looks here and there but something about way he looked at her now was different. Michael looked so angry. There was a furiousness in his share and it made her knees weak, it made her remember just how much he affected her.

Elain shook her head, not the time to think about him. In fact, she thought too much about him. There was some part of her brain that wanted Michael.

Elain reached for her phone, making sure she hadn't missed a call from Rika. Every since last night, Elain was constantly checking on her friend. If the horsemen were back, then they were going to want revenge. Not on her, but on Rika. Although a few of them would probably blame her as well.

A shiver went down her spine as she thought of Damon. Elain had mixed feelings about her cousin. What he had done was bad, but she knew he had been in love with Winter and her not wanting him in return had hurt him. If Damon had been bad before, she had no idea what he would be like after three years in jail.

She heard the door getting unlocked and Elain straightened up in her chair. She was still in her robe from earlier, only her bra and panties underneath.

Max entered their shared penthouse, the top of his shirt unbuttoned. He looked around, trying to spot her, and Elain raised her hand.

She turned her body towards him, a smile playing on her lips. "Look who's back?" She teased and he grinned at her.
