Before you start reading, I just wanted to thank you for 30 reads. It probably doesn't seem much to you, but it's really special to me, so THANK YOU SO MUCH. Anyway, y'all can start now... also, Tony is very much alive in this, because who else throws extravagant parties that cost over a billion dollars?
"Er... hey." I looked up to find Wanda towering over me (and that's saying a lot, cuz she's pretty short).
"Hi." I replied and hugged my knees closer to my chest, curling my hands into fists. I didn't want her to find the writing on the palm of my hand. Yelena made me draw a map of the building on my arm. It was my only hope of escaping.
"Naomi, right?" She asked, dropping down next to me.
"Yeah." I replied, biting my lip. " And you're Wanda Maximoff."
"Yep." She smiled slightly. "Well, Tony's having a party later, and he asked if you wanna come?"
"Me?" I raised my eyebrows. "Why does Tony want ME at his party?"
"Ah, Tony just likes a bit of fun. Said you'd make the party...er... more interesting." I rolled my eyes. "Of course he did." Well, Tony was obviously planning something, but the party was the closest I was going to get to the Avengers with them all happy and relaxed. Something nagged at my brain, but I ignored it and peered at Wanda. "You guys aren't scared? What I said... I didn't mean it, not really..." Ok, small lie, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. She smiled the same small smile, although it didn't quite reach her eyes this time.
"We all make mistakes. You made one. I've made more."
"Believe me, you haven't." I sighed. "But... won't someone have to... you know... make sure I don't...escape?" Wanda smirked. "Yeah, but you know they're gonna be flirting with you the WHOLE TIME." I laughed. "Boys, come on, she won't bite!" She yelled. The door flung open. Ugh. Was I seriously gonna be stuck with the Falcon AND Winter Soldier ALL NIGHT? What a nightmare. Well, you gotta take the good with the bad, I guess. But, seriously?
"Well, I'm gonna go now, I gotta get ready. You don't need a pretty dress, but some of us aren't so gifted." Wanda winked at me. We smiled at each other, as Bucky and Sam watched in confusion. "See ya later." She turned and walked to the door.
"Wanda?" She spun round and smiled. "I'm really sorry." That wasn't a lie.
"Woah."
"Oh my God, this must have cost a fortune." Sam muttered to Bucky. Tony really does go all out with his dumb parties. There were people EVERYWHERE. The entire room was done up in gold and just dripping with diamonds. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and even the sofas were gold and had cushions adorned with REAL DIAMONDS. Like, WHAT? My eyes scanned the room for the Avengers. I smiled as I watched one of the very expensive couch cushions go flying across the room and hit Tony's annoyed face. He stood up and hurled the pillow back to Thor, who blocked his face with Mjolnir. Why can't I have friends like that? Natasha was lucky. THEY were lucky to have her. I never did. I could've done. But I didn't. Bucky and Sam dragged me over to where the Avengers were sitting. I lowered my eyes to the floor. I could still feel their glares though, even though I couldn't see them. After what seemed like an eternity, someone put their hand on my arm. I looked up in surprise. Wanda. She took me over to the sofa where she had been sitting and started talking. The others stared in shock, and she glared at them. They immediately turned away, scared, and started a halting conversation. I smiled at her thankfully, and we sat chatting for an hour. I learned a lot of things about Wanda in that hour, but the thing I will remember most is the kindness and love she showed everyone around her. Ew, that's kinda emotional. Oh well. Of course, Bucky and Sam never left my side, but they seemed a lot more relaxed now they were with their friends, so I got off lightly, I guess.
After about an hour, people started filing out of the doors. I got up and made to leave, but Wanda grabbed my arm and pulled me back down.
"Er, what's going on?" I asked her. I heard the fear in my own voice, but I didn't care.
"Nothing, relax." she reassured me. "We just prefer to be alone, so once Tony's parties are over, we stay for another hour or so."
"Oh." I smiled. "Wait, why am I here then?" I frowned in confusion. Wanda shrugged and shook her head. "Tony said he wanted you to stay... I don't know what for." I bit my lip. It was fine if Wanda was the one who wanted me to stay, but Tony? He's planned something. I shook my head at Wanda. "I don't trust Stark." I said. "I'm leaving." I got up and headed to the door, completely forgetting about the "bodyguards". They were still chatting and had not remembered me.
"Hey!" Someone shouted, suddenly. "Don't let her leave!" I gasped as someone came up behind me and grabbed my arm, twisting it painfully. I kicked back wildly. I felt my foot connect with the person's shin, and as they knelt down to rub their leg, I sprinted. Not a very good Avenger, are you, if you can't take a kick to the shin. The corridor thundered with the sound of pounding feet, but I knew I was going to make it. I twisted round to check how far they were. Closer than I expected. I ran to the nearest door, entered the room and shut it behind me. AGH, NO WHY?! I was back in my DUMB, DUMB cell. enfjewnfjefn. Sorry....
"See, told you." Wanda looked at Tony. "She wasn't trying to escape. She was just...scared when you guys started fighting her." Tony sighed, thinking that Wanda was right. Of course, at first, I had forgotten, but when everyone was chasing me, I did think it was best to escape. I never meant to though. He let me out and everyone went back to the party, Bucky and Sam now more on edge, jumping every time I moved. I laughed silently as I re-positioned myself on the sofa, and they both shot to their feet. They turned their heads to Tony, annoyed, who was holding up a machine, with blue sparks shooting out when he pressed a little red button.
"Any volunteers?" He asked, smirking. Oh no. I knew what was going to happen. Sure enough, he turned his slow smile on me, and advanced towards the sofa where Wanda and I were sitting. I jumped to my feet and made to run, but Bucky wrapped his hand around my wrist and pushed me back down. Tony was right in front of me now, still smirking. Bucky's eyes widened as he realised what Tony was about to do, while Wanda looked sick with fear. No, no, no, no, please no.
"Tony!" Someone shrieked.
He pressed the button and everything went black.
