THE PAIR FOUND themselves seated against the park bench in silence. "remember the small promise earlier? since we have time now, do you mind explaining what you meant by the letter?" (lastname) narrowed her eyes at the boy. "are you jealous, suga-san?"

sugawara puckered his lips slightly as he turned away, pink coating his cheeks. "s-so what? is it wrong for me to know?" the girl held a smirk on her face as she shook her head in amusement.

"the girl with shoulder-length brown hair with blueberry-like eyes is yamazaki lena. she's the one who gave me a letter right before i entered the gym some time ago. remember when ryu unintentionally yelled out that i received a love letter? yeah, it was from her."

the setter nodded in acknowledgement, giving (lastname) the cue to continue. "she invited me to a cafe nearby for the next day in the letter, which explains why i wasn't in practice for some time." sugawara crossed his arms, going silent before speaking up. "you rejected her?"

(lastname) faced sugawara with a look of disbelief and surprise. "if i didn't, we wouldn't be here today. who knows, if i had accepted her confession then, she'd be in your place right now, with a keychain hanging on her bag." a pout slowly made its way up the boy's face.

"all i asked was a question, (name)-chan.. no need to be like that towards me.." (lastname) clicked her tongue in slight annoyance. a comfortable silence surrounded the two as they watched preschool kids play around in the park they were in. (lastname) unexpectedly let a out a yawn, making sugawara turn to her.

"should we get going? it's almost half past five, and you're tired." sugawara stood up and outstretched his hand out for (lastname) to take. the girl tiredly pulled herself off the bench with his help. "do you want me to piggyback you? i feel like you'd crash into things a lot more often in this tired state of yours."

(lastname) didn't bother to protest, climbing onto the boy's back with ease. once securing his arms around her thighs, sugawara felt weight on his left side of his head. slightly turning around, he learned that (lastname) was already fast asleep.

"this girl.. we didn't even do much today. except maybe a lot of walking, but that's it!.." sugawara started his journey towards the residence the girl he liked lived in, with occasional complaints about the girl herself under his breath.

"(NAME)-CHAN, WAKE UP. we're arriving your house soon.." sugawara informed the drowsy girl. he heard an incoherent acknowledgement response from her before feeling her breath fanning against his skin once again. a familiar structure soon came into view after a right turn. "(name), we're here.."

sugawara gently and carefully let (lastname) drop to the ground on her feet. while she was busy reorganizing her mind, sugawara went ahead to untangle a few strands of her hair. "well then, i'll go in now. take care, okay? ..do text me once you're home.." (lastname) shut the gate, mumbling the last sentence.

with a gentle smile on his face, sugawara nodded and bid the girl good night. only after (lastname) went in her house did sugawara start his walk back home.

(lastname) headed up the stairs and entered her room. she flopped on her bed, fatigue dripping off of her. with a quiet groan, she begrudgingly got off and headed in her bathroom to clean herself up. once she did, (lastname) fell on her bed as her phone went off.
