The rebellion is coming, Beatrice can feel it. She can see it in her own district; people quitting their jobs of plowing the grain fields, painting mockingjay symbols where peacekeepers can't see, and yelling in the square whenever President Snow shows his hideous face on the screen.
All because two stupid teenagers decided they could cheat death and get away with it. Beatrice can't say she detests them. The feeling she has is more so jealously. Jealous that they got to leave with their district partner, while she still has nightmares of her fellow tribute dying every night. His death haunts her like a ghost with no home.
Winning the games at sixteen was a feat only a handful of people could accomplish, and Beatrice Grey being one of them. All the other tributes saw her as a weakling, being from District Nine, and she used that to her advantage. She hid in the grain fields that President Snow so kindly provided for her in the arena and snuck up on her enemies, taking them out one by one.
Even after three years out of the arena, their faces right before she sunk her scythe into them haunt her in her nightmares every time she tried to sleep.
She was angry, so angry. She wanted to stop having to mentor innocent children and then watch them die. She wanted to stop having nightmares. She wanted peace. So this is why when Haymitch Abernathy asks her to join the rebellion and protect the Mockingjay, she has to agree. The only problem is, Beatrice likes Katniss Everdeen a little too much.
