"Tell me who did this."
Jisung flinched upon hearing the cold, hard edge in his boyfriend's voice. The school nurse gave him a worried look before applying the final layer of ointment to his wound. She firmly wrapped his bleeding elbow and knee with rolls of bandages and dusted off the dirt from his uniform.
"You'll have to go home immediately, I'm afraid. The cuts on your arms aren't very deep, but the one on your knee is. You won't require stitches, but you should avoid moving around for the next couple of days. Can you—?" She turned to look at his boyfriend, who was looking at him with a forlorn expression on his face. "You must be his boyfriend. Can you take him home, Minho-ah?"
"Not until he tells me who did this to him."
Jisung cowered even further under his intimidating stare. Standing in the dim lighting of the school infirmary, Minho's dark eyes glimmered menacingly as he walked over to him.
"I'm not leaving until I slam my foot down the asshole's throat responsible for hurting my boyfriend."
"'Min, baby, it's alright—"
"Complete that sentence, I dare you. Complete that sentence and I am calling Hyunjin right this instant and asking him to interrogate every single classmate of yours. One of them is bound to know the truth." His expression softened when he saw the guilty look on his boyfriend's face. Sighing, he knelt on one knee and ran his fingers over his bruised knuckles. Jisung's shoulders relaxed instantly. The familiar touch calmed his frazzled nerves.
Minho, however, was not reassured. Seeing the innumerable purple-and-black bruises blemishing his boyfriend's arms seemed to snap something inside him. Jisung was startled to see frustrated tears swimming in his eyes.
"Please tell me, Sungie. Please tell me who did this. Chan overheard your conversation with Changbin yesterday. He heard you saying that you faced constant harassment from my fangirls, but did not wish to burden me because my show was just around the corner. That's not how a relationship works, Sungie. You will never burden me with anything. I thought of confronting you after practice, but JYPee had other plans." His voice slightly cracked. "And, lo and behold, the great Minho was tragically late to protect his boyfriend. Please, Jisung. I hate seeing you like this. They even asked their boyfriends to go after you, cleverly staying in the shadows themselves. They aren't human; they are rabid dogs. I promise I won't physically injure those scumbags, but at least let me report him to the school authorities. I can't bear to see you like this. Please."
"Minho..."
"He's right, child," the school nurse added kindly. "I know you had your boyfriend's best interest at heart, but you do not keep such things from him. Being in a relationship means being honest with each other, despite the truth being bitter or painful. Lying never helps."
Jisung nodded, tears prickling the corners of his vision. "Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry, Minho. I just—"
"Hey, it's alright, baby. I am sorry I wasn't observant enough. Though, I am glad you fought back. Hopefully, you broke some bones. Seeing me and Hyunjin constantly fight finally paid off, huh?" He smiled when the younger male laughed at his words. Pulling him in a hug, he ran his fingers through his hair. "Don't worry anymore, love. I got your back now."
"Nobody is ever hurting you again."
