AU explanation: Min (Catherine) is set out on a mission to kill Teruko (Rudolf) but, during this mission the two fall in love. However, Love does not conquer all in this scenario.
"Min, I offer you three things most dear to me; my heart, my country and my dream."
Teruko sits down across from where Min was stood. The dimly lit lightbulb only just illuminated the room enough for them to see eachother, somewhat, clearly.
"You are too generous."
She smiled at Teruko as she spoke. Though, the smile wasn't fully genuine, it was more of a nervous one.
"Min you must listen to me. Since that first hour we met I've been completely yours. There's never been anyone else for me, there never will!"
The look on Terukos' face was the most genuine expression Min had ever seen. It was so genuine it almost felt fake to her.
"Oh, please, please don't say anymore. There are worlds between us! Worlds that can't be bridged with words."
"You said one night that you wished we were two different people. I think you may have that wish, Min."
"W-what do you mean?"
"Only that my country is close to its victory and may not need so much of my service any longer."
"Close.. to victory?"Mins' heart started beating faster. She knew that it was all up to her now. Her whole countries life, economy and well-fair was all in her hands. This is the day she's been planning for, for so long. So, why was she so nervous? She knew what to do but, why did she feel so hesitant? Perhaps she had failed her mission as soon as it started. She was strictly warned to not let herself get emotionally invested with Teruko, yet she did. She loved her dearly.
"I'm going to tell you something tonight, Min. Something that will put my life in your hands."
"Your.. life?"
"It would mean my life, often used to get to certain circles, yes."
"Then don't tell me! How do you know you can trust me?"Min didn't want this. To earn her trust is what she wanted.. but her life? That's truly absurd.
"I love you. And I believe you love me."
"You're quite wrong. This has been only an adventure to me. "
"That isn't true, Min!"
"It is true! You smiled at me, I was flattered! It was an adventure for a holiday movie!"Teruko could see straight through her. She wasn't such a high ranking woman for no reason. She was smart, smarter than Min thought she was.
"You may as well take my heart Min, it's already full of you! You walked into it the day that we met. "
"You're a fool, Teruko."
"Oh-ho, but isn't any man that falls in love? Do you know what you are to me? You're something to believe in again. You're a type of person that has ceased to exist for me! A fine, and honest woman!"Min couldn't bear listening to her any longer. She'd rather fail her mission than continue this any longer.
"Oh, my darling, you are such a child. Take your foolish little dream, and your heart, and go! Please go!"
"What is it? What's wrong, my dear?" "You know nothing about me! You've known me only three weeks!"
"Three weeks? Min, I've known you all my life. "
"All your life?"Min scoffed at the thought. How could Teruko be so foolish?
"It's true! Ive Seen you in a thousand plays! Read you in as many books! Well, I've heard beautiful music and thought 'she'd like that'. I've looked at flowers knowing that, one day I'd give them to you!"
"Oh stop, stop that! You must listen to me! I am not that woman! Perhaps I was once, but I am not now! You see, you were wrong! You can't trust me!"
