I awoke the next morning to the sun peeking through my window curtains. I rolled over, not wanting to get up to face the consequences after yesterday's fiasco.

"Bella," Charlie yelled from downstairs, "you're going to be late for school."

"Shit. Shit. Shit." I muttered, getting out of bed quickly and tripping over my feet. I ran to the bathroom and took a quick shower before throwing on a comfy lounge set and running downstairs. Once downstairs, I walked into the kitchen, grabbed a piece of toast, kissed my dad goodbye, and then walked out the door.

I got into my beat-up orange truck and carefully drove to school fifteen minutes before the first bell. I parked in a spot near the school and hesitated to get out. I could already feel the eyes of numerous students on me- already knowing about my "lovely" stunt last night.

"Just hold your head high and don't let it bother you," I muttered to myself as a grabbed my backpack and sling it over my shoulder as I exited my truck. I slammed the door shut and made my way into the school, ignoring the stares and whispers as best as I could.

I made it to English just as the bell rang and sat in an empty seat in the back. Mr. Berty began to ramble about a book that we would be reading for the next three weeks and that we would be writing a paper on it. He then walked around the class and passed out the book to each student.

He got to my desk and set it down gently, "if you need anything Bella, email me during office hours and I can extend any work needed."

"Thank you, Mr. Berty. But there's no need." I smiled fakely up at him. He nodded in understanding and continued passing out the books.

I took a quick glance at the title of the book and almost threw up.

"Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare."

Just my bad luck.

The bell rang indicating the end of class. I took long to pack up my things so most of the class had already left before leaving myself. Once there were a couple of people left, I walked out of the room and made my way to Government. I ignored the stares yet again and made it to class hoping to be ignored like the hour before. But, I got my hopes up to soon.

"So," a voice drawled out to the right of me, as the person took a seat. "I heard you had a bit of a rough night Arizona."

I turned to the voice and saw the golden retriever himself- Mike Newton.

"You try being dumped in woods," I muttered irritated, taking out my government book.

"Ooh, trouble in paradise?" He crooned, leaning closer.

"If you get any closer, I will not hesitate to punch you in the face." I hissed out.

Newton's eyes widened and he visibly gulped before backing away and sinking into his chair.

As class droned on I could see him looking at me out of the corner of my eye every now and again, increasing my irritation.

I was very thankful when the bell rang. I gathered my things and almost sprinted out of that room as Newton called for me. I sucked up going to my following two classes. Thankfully, no one acknowledged my existence- besides the teachers.

As lunch came around, I opted to not eat in the cafeteria. I took my stuff and made my way outside to my truck and sat on the tail-end, and began to eat. There were some people already out here, but not many. So my peace won't be disturbed that much.

As I sat there eating in my own world I didn't notice that someone was walking towards me until they sat next to me. I looked up and saw Jacob Black.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, "don't you have school?"

"It closed early due to a pipe leakage," he shrugged.

Jake leaned over me and stole a chip. "So, what are you doing out here?"

"Eating lunch," I said, shaking my lunch bag. "And also avoiding all the eyes following my every move like some creepy stalker."

"Makes sense." He nodded in agreement.

I looked down at my watch, then back at Jacob, making a split-second decision.

"Do you want to get out of here?" I asked.

"What-wha-pfft." Jake fumbled.

"Look," I said, packing up, "this whole day has been hell for me..... until you showed up." I hopped off the tail-end and stood in front of him.

"I don't want to go back in there and have everyone look at me like I'm some freak." I continued, putting my bag in the back of my truck.

"We can go to La Push and to First Beach to hang out for a while down there.... if you want?" I added, biting my lip in anticipation and worried about another rejection.

Jake blushed for a second, then got himself together.

"Yeah, totally." He smiled brightly and slammed the tail-end back in place before running to the passenger side of the truck.

I walked to the driver's side and opened and closed the door and got in as Jake did the same. I started the truck and put it in reverse out of the parking spot and turned it then drove out of the parking lot.

As we drove about twenty minutes to La Push, we talked about all the crazy things we did as kids. It made me wish that I had stayed here instead.

As we continued to talk and laugh we did not notice that within the dense shadows of the towering forest that we were being watched.
