It's my birthday. My 25th birthday to be exact. Usually, mother would take us to dinner along with the Hayamas.
But for some reason, they decided to throw a party at one of our residence in Tokyo. The reason why is because they also wanted to congratulate my position as a CEO in one of my father's largest company.
I have never seen the appeal in celebrating someone's achievements much less their birthday. But knowing mother, she probably planned on introducing me to other influential figures to build connections.
It was a noble goal, but I can't find it in me to praise her for it. Mostly because of the way she had always raised me leading to our strained relationship.
But nonetheless, she seems to have invited many parties judging from the size of the banquet. And for some reason, she also give me her permission to bring along my friends as much as I can. The more the merrier or something like that.
So I called Yuigahama which is by far, the only one I can truly refer to as friend. Knowing her, she probably invited her other friends. I'm not the only one she's close with after all.
And that's all I had to do and now I am lazing around my room. Bored to death. I wanted to invite another person but I didn't have his contact number.
We had never considered ourselves as friends, therefore, never bothered to exchange contacts. But funnily enough, I considered him to be someone close to me.
... No. Yuigahama will inform him regarding the matters anyway. I shouldn't think too much about it. And he is likely to attend my birthday since he should also consider me as an important figure in his life right?
But could 3 years of being apart with no interaction be ignored that easily? I have no idea. Just thinking about the possibility of him not being present made my stomach churn.
Really, I shouldn't get too worked up on this matter.
I looked outside the window. I can't deny the fact that the view from this place is beautiful.
Suddenly, I heard my device's ringtone rang off and I checked it. It was a message from Yuigahama.
(I'll arrive along with the others tomorrow! Is there anything you want for your birthday?)
(Nothing in particular. Thanks for putting in your consideration, I'll be waiting for you patiently)
After replying, I waited for her response. But instead of a text, she called me. I picked up almost a bit too eagerly.
"Yukinon! You are turning 25 tomorrow! How do you feel?" A cheerful voice asked from the other side of the screen.
"I feel good, albeit a little older. Soon enough, there will be wrinkles on my face" I joked.
"We should toootally hang out after your birthday party y'know? I missed you so much!" Her tone filled with half excitement half pleading.
"I'll try to free up my schedule. Work has been taking a lot from me so I can't guarantee a definite answer"
"Aww. But I was looking forward to it sooo much though"
I chuckled at her childish response.
"It's fine. It's not like you can't call me every now and then" I tried reassuring her.
" I guess. Buuutt, I had something to tell you"
"Go on"
"Guess the special guest coming tomorrow. You won't believe it"
This girl really acts below her age.
"Is it Isshiki?"
"She's coming but wrong answer"
