ʜᴀʀʟᴇᴍ, ɴᴇᴡ ʏᴏʀᴋ"Ayo, free the rest of my niggas 'til it's backwards!" Caius turned his head over his shoulder, yelling toward his former inmates as his hands were handcuffed behind his back and he was being escorted out by a correctional officer. Almost as soon as the words left his mouth, the entire prison went up in cheers and chatter, their energy spiked once hearing the verbal support from the man majority of them got to build a friendship with.
As other correctional officers tried to settle the crowd down, the one gripping Caius' arm was attempting to pull him away from the scene altogether, "Lacroix, come this way." she ordered sternly.
He nodded his head, but continued to speak. "Ima see y'all later, Silver remember that I'll take care of yo family just like I promised man, call me." he looked a certain man in the eyes and nodded his head, Silver doing the same and patting his chest as a way of showing his appreciation.
Silver was a much older man than Caius, and he had a wife and daughter back home. Silver had been locked up for over ten years, and over time, his family began struggling without him to provide for the two. He told Caius all about it, since once getting in there they had been assigned cell mates, and Silver was pretty much a mentor to him his entire time there. So Caius, who know he'd be getting out sooner than Silver, promised he'd provide his family with anything they may need once he was out.
"Lacroix!" the C.O. called again, causing Caius to suck his teeth and follow her away from the cells.
He was undoubtedly happy to be out of that place, but Caius couldn't say he wouldn't miss a few people he met while in prison. It wasn't always fun, but he learned a lot of lessons and got acquainted with some real people who he could now call friends in there. He planned to get them out soon, once he figured his own newfound freedom out first.
"Anything you want to bring with you, I hope you grabbed it, we're about to get your clothes, then you'll have to sign a few papers and get the remaining money off your books." she told him after leading him away from the cells and walking him through the prison in order for him to be released.
Caius rose an eyebrow, looking down at the shorter woman who held his forearm. "Why you being so professional with me Zoe? You ain't gone miss me?" he nudged her side a little.
"No." she said quickly, tucking her lips in afterward as a blush came across her face "Maybe there'll be less trouble in here without you instigating or starting any fights." she said giving him a side eye.
Part of Caius' impact on the prison, came with the fact that he was known to be the main one to start drama between his cell mates, or initiate a fight to get in himself. He didn't have a reason for it other than the fact that he got bored sometimes, other times he just needed to release energy due to his undiagnosed ADHD.
