Have you ever been sent to a boarding school? Because I haven't, but I'm about to.

"Dad! You can't do this to me! I can't just leave home, you, Liam, and Levi to board at some isolated school an hour and a half away from here!" I argued back. Me and dad have been arguing for god knows how long.

"I know this is hard, Lydia! It's hard for all of us, not just you. Especially me. You know how hard it was making this decision?" He gradually lowered his voice. "I'm not doing this for me, I'm doing it for you. I want you to finish your last 2 years and graduate."

"I don't want to graduate, dad! I wanna drop out!"

"I'm not gonna let you drop out, and you know that. Mum wouldn't want you to so I don't either."

"Well, mum's not here is she?!" I shouldn't have said that. He sighed, taking a seat on a stool next to the kitchen island. He didn't say anything for a bit.

"I'm doing it for you baby girl." He looked at me with pleading eyes. "You know I don't care that you get bad grades, I just want you to finish your education without having to get expelled again. It's a year and a half left sweetie, can you please do it for me?" I looked at my father's expression, he had given up. I got expelled just before winter break.

"Fine." I sighed. He smiled.

"Thank you." He muttered. "I'll come visit you every Sunday, princess." He stood up, approaching me and giving me a hug.

He let go and I went downstairs to the basement, where both my older brothers were. Liam is 25 and Levi is 21.

"Guys, I have a very big problem." I went down and saw both of them playing pool.

"We know, we heard everything." Liam hit a ball.

"Well, how do I get out of this?" I asked.

"Honestly, we don't know." Levi said.

"What do you mean? Come on guys, you have to help me!" I clapped my hands.

"Lyd, we both finished our education. We may have not gotten the best grades, but now we're both in uni." Liam looked at me. "Do what dad said and try to finish school, it's honestly for the best."

I rolled my eyes, "Well, I'm not you!" I stormed off upstairs to my bedroom. I slumped on my bed, staring at the ceiling.

I love my dad, but I'm determined to get expelled from this school.

And with that, I fell asleep.

I was born and raised in Australia by my parents, Theo and Ava.

My mum died when I was 11. It was a tragic car accident, which she went into a coma for 10 months. We waited for her to wake up, but it was no use, my dad received a call one day from her doctor saying she had died.

Dad fell into a deep depression for 6 months. During those 6 months, he wouldn't eat, sleep, or talk. He'd simply go to work to provide us with food, but other than that, it was my brothers, Liam and Levi who took care of me.

After those 6 months, he started getting better. He even got a promotion at work, but on the topic of work, a few weeks after I turned 12, we moved to the US, because of his work.

We moved to a small town in California, nearby the beach. But to be honest, I wish we stayed in Australia, because as soon as we came here, that's when I started not giving a single fuck about school. I have been expelled 3 times ever since.

Anyways, dad hasn't had a girlfriend since mum passed, we keep telling him he should, but he ignores, denies, and refuses to.

1 week later~

Winter break is over tomorrow, but the school informed my dad I had to go a day earlier to sort my dorm out and all. Which is today. I'm just gonna go, have the tour, get my dorm number or whatever and I'll come back home, then go back again tomorrow.

Everything is packed, I'm all good, I don't need to worry about that.

"Dad! I'm leaving, I'll be back in the afternoon." I told my dad, who was sitting in the living room. It was 10:15 and I had to be there by 12.

"Alright, Lydia, have fun and please behave yourself."

"Okay, dad, bye!" I left the house, getting into my car and driving away.

I was wearing black Nike trackies, and a matching nike hoodie on top with air forces. It was cold outside so I turned my heater on in the car and blasted music.

I don't really care about the 'friends' I'm leaving from my old school. I didn't even have any. I only had like a friend group I'd hang out with, but I'd never actually talk to any of them.

I put on Escapism.

A little context if you care to listen
I find myself in a shit position
The man that I love sat me down last night
And he told me that it's over, dumb decision
And I don't wanna feel how my heart is rippin'
In fact, I don't wanna feel, so I stick to sippin'
And I'm out on the town with a simple mission
In my little black dress, and this shit is sittin'

I started singing my heart out.

Just a heart broke bitch, high heels, six inch
In the back of the nightclub, sippin' champagne
I don't trust any of these bitches I'm with
In the back of the taxi, sniffin' cocaine
Drunk calls, drunk texts, drunk tears, drunk sex
I was lookin' for a man who was on the same page
Now it's back to the intro, back to the bar
To the Bentley, to the hotel, to my old ways

It's honestly my favourite song so far, followed by Love me. I don't know, those 2 songs hit different.

I didn't even realise when I actually got there. I looked at the time, it was 11:55. I was on time at least.

I got out of my car, locking it. I made my way to the entrance. The school looked massive, I felt like I was entering Hogwarts. But really I was going through the gates of Hell.

I'll admit though, the garden outside was beautiful.

I got inside and saw the receptionist on the desk. I walked up the her and she looked at me.

"Hi, how may I help you?" She smiled.

"Um, I'm here for the tour?" I wasn't sure what to say.

"Oh! You must be..." She flicked through a folder. "Lydia Perez!"

"Uh, yeah."

"Take a seat, Mr Downey will be with you in a bit." She gestured to the seats. I thanked her and went and took a seat.

After about 10 minutes of waiting on my phone, a man approached me and reached his hand out.

"Ms. Perez?" I looked up to see a fine man in front of me. Man was he fine. Chocolate brown eyes and dark brown hair. His hair was perfect, it was medium length, messy but neatly done. If that makes sense. He had an unusual moustache, which suit him well. He was wearing a suit, a light blue dress shirt and navy blue dress pants, with a matching tie. The tie was a bit loose on him. His biceps and abs were visible through his shirt, now that was hot. He wasn't tall, but not that short either. He was around 5"8. Definitely taller than me. I'm 5"2. And finally, he looked like he was in his mid-thirties.

"I'm Mr. Downey."

Oh. That's him?
