Authors Notes:

Hello everyone! I hope you had a happy holiday and had a blast with friends or family.

This chapter is pretty long sitting at about 3590 words, the longest chapter so far and I hope you enjoy it. This is where the book starts to shift and not follow the marvel movies as closely anymore. There will still be some lines followed in later chapters however.

Let me know what you think! And feel free to check out my Sirius Black/reader story that's posted. Five chapters are currently out now at the time of this posting.

Exactly one year later - 2015

"Alright baby bird, for your last flying lesson I have set up an obstacle course that I can normally complete in 3 minutes. Your goal is to finish in 3 minutes or less. You get two tries today before we have to head in for dinner."

Since I cracked a year ago I was constantly worried for my dad, and every time I was worried my hair turned to a dark shade of pink. Uncle Sam decided that I would leave with him to Louisiana since he had a big yard I could learn to properly fly in and not worry constantly about my dad and having him worry about my worries.

It took a while for my pink hair to go back to my chosen Earth color and uncle Sam's sister insisted that I call her auntie after Uncle Sam, or big bird as I like to call him, gave her my abridged story. I was with him on and off whenever dad was on a mission, so Uncle Sam squeezed in training whenever he could, but we always had fun doing so. Don't tell dad, but he taught me how to shoot a gun and gun care as well.

"Alright, I can do this. I can do this."

"Don't beat yourself up if you can't make the time today. We still have tomorrow before your dad comes to pick you up." Nodding I take in a few deep breaths as I take in the course. I have to run a few feet then jump off the side of tree using the momentum I gained to knock down the dummy, then I have to fly through the hoops attached to a few random trees in color order and shoot at the targets with a bb gun at the same time, lastly I have to hit one more dummy and land on my feet at the foot of the porch.

"Ready?" My wings come out, ready to go as I get into my running position. "GO!" I took off running and side jumped the tree, spinning around and round housing the dummy. As soon as my feet touched the ground I flapped my wings hard and took off to the red hoop, then orange. Yellow was a tight right turn, and with green right above I had to quickly decide if I was going to corkscrew twist into it or fly backwards. I barely clear yellow when I go straight up, not wasting time with a twist and flip backwards into green.

Pulling out the bb, I turn my body to the left and pop a few pellets at the three targets, hoping my aim was good as I went through the blue hoop. Purple was in the tallest tree so I went straight back up with a laugh, enjoying the feeling of flying. Once through purple I kicked off the tree doing a few free fall flips, not even caring about time anymore. Seeing the dummy as I got closer to the ground I let out my wings to slow my fall and punched the dummy right in the face, happily landing on my feet in front of the porch, "TIME!"

Sam comes to me with a smile, "2 minutes 40 seconds baby bird. Looks like I have a record to beat." Letting out a happy screech I pulled him into a hug, "that was so much fun Uncle Sam. We should race with Mr. Stark to see if he can actually keep up with us." He laughs and ruffles my hair before heading into the house. "Like he could keep up with us."

Once we washed up Sarah served our plates and we said grace. "So how did it go? Did you pass the challenge?" My face lit up instantly at Sarah's question as I told her all about it. Her sons chime in just as excited since they witnessed me completing it. "Wait, how did I do on the targets? Did any of them bullseye?" There's a knock on the door before he can answer and he goes to see who it is.
