cadburys and concussions シ

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

SOMEONE WAS SHAKING him. That wasn't right.

"Get off me," Nova mumbled blearily, swatting at the person. "Don't touch me."

He felt the person withdraw. He rubbed at his eyes, slowly opening them and blinking at the bright light that shone down on him from above.

Cedric Diggory was crouched down next to him, a worried look on his face. Beside him was his cousin Draco (Nova felt a wave of guilt at his slightly traumatised expression as he remembered how he had treated him earlier, but quickly dismissed it) and standing over him, a concerned expression on his scarred face, was the maybe-dead-but-apparently-not-dead man from his compartment earlier - Professor Lupin.

"You're not dead," Nova pointed out.

A wave of confusion swept across Lupin's face.

"Is he concussed?" Diggory asked worriedly. "He hit his head pretty hard when he collapsed."

"Not concussed," Nova muttered, pushing himself up into a sitting position, ignoring the world that seemed to shift and spin before him. He then, slowly, managed to get to his feet, using Diggory's shoulder as leverage to lift himself up. Diggory and Draco followed him into a standing position. "Just a little... dizzy -!"

He swayed a bit, then collapsed once more. Diggory leapt forward to catch him, arms reaching to support his head and back as he slowly lowered him back to the ground. Lupin's face grew even more worried, and he felt around in his robes for something, crouching down beside him.

"Here," he said, withdrawing a bar of chocolate with a purple wrapping that Nova had never seen before. "Eat this. It helps - trust me."

Nova carefully unwrapped the chocolate, eyeing the wrappings suspiciously. He broke off a piece and tentatively took a bite, eyes widening at the sudden warmth that swept through him as soon as the chocolate hit his mouth. Nova didn't know who Cadbury was, but they sure worked miracles.

"Better?" Lupin asked. Nova nodded. "Keep the rest of the bar - you need it."

"Thanks," Nova muttered. "Was that a Dementor?" he asked.

    Lupin nodded.

"They were searching the train for Sirius Black," he said gravely. "They must have spotted you and gotten confused. You look awfully similar, you know."

"I'm blond. Are the Dementors colour-blind?"

Lupin let out a small chuckle, getting to his feet.

"I'm not too sure," he mused. "Well, we can't stay out here all day," he moved on. "Do you think if we helped, you could make it back to your compartment?"

Nova nodded, but as soon as Diggory and Lupin had lifted him to his feet, nearly collapsed again.

"Maybe you could come to my compartment," Diggory suggested. "It's not as far - just there."

Nova didn't have the strength to argue, and soon he found himself sat on a bench facing three Hufflepuffs, propped up against the window and leaning on Diggory for support. Lupin came in a few minutes later, levitating Nova's trunk and satchel and setting them neatly in the luggage rack.

    "Thanks, sir," Nova said.

A strange look flashed across Lupin's face, and then it was gone.
