Chapter 1.
Laura
"Now, don't be shy people, this party is going to be great! Wear your sexiest outfit!" Diana was saying to the crowd of seniors and juniors bothering to stop during transition to hear about her party. Laura tried to bury her face into her locker as she pulled books out. She hated Diana with a passion. She was a cheerleader, a stunt one at that and, Lauras' ex-best friend. After she became the stunt cheerleader, she didn't have time to be with Laura. And she made sure not to make time either.
Laura slammed her locker out of anger, then looked around to make sure no one was looking at her. She had nothing to worry about. She sighed and stomped off to her second to last period, but stopped when she heard a familiar voice call to her.
No, don't stop Laura, she thought, nothing will come out of it if you do.
She took one step when a hand grabbed her arm and twirled her around to make her face who it belonged to.
Diana gave a one of those smiles. The smile that says 'I'm only doing this because I pity you'.
"Tonight, I'm throwing a party. It's gonna be huge! I want you to come." Diana said, clutching to Lauras' arm.
"Why would I do that?" Laura asked, showing no emotion in her voice.
"Because we're friends."
She almost laughed," when was this, Diana?"
Diana rolled her eyes," look, Laura Gwen, I know we're drifted apart. I'm truly sorry. I want this party to pull us back together."
The bell rung, the hallways were starting to get less crowded.
"Will you come?" Diana asked, batting her long black eyelashes.
Laura tried not to show her caving.
"If I say yea will you let me go?"
Diana released her.
She smiled, her green eyes holding triumph.
"Come to my house early, I picked out something special for you to wear. Red's your favorite color still right?"
She can't believed she remembered!
"Yeah," Laura said, not revealing her excitement.
"Good, I'll see you tonight!"
Laura spun on her heels and walked away. Her stomach was rumbling from excitement and it showed in her speed. She couldn't wait. After all, this is her first Diana Stone party, and its said to be one of the best parties with the best host out of all party throwers in Shipman High.
It was 6:53 when Laura arrived at the Stone residence. To large to be a normal house, to small to be a mansion.
But nice all the same. She rung the door bell. Alfred, the old butler Laura remembered since she was five, was still there. He looked surprised to see her there. But he smiled anyway.
"My, have you grown into a pretty girl, Laura Gwen."
He had such a Dutch accent, she loved the way he said her entire first name.
"Thank you, you don't look so bad yourself!"
And its true, he didn't for someone in his seventies. He blushed.
Laura smiled, he was such a nice old man. To bad his boss's daughter is too shitty to realize it.
"If you're here for miss Diana, she's upstairs." He said, stepping aside.
"Thanks."
Laura knew the house like the back of her hand. Her and Diana use to play tag and hide-go-seek in here so many times, she could walk in here with her eyes closed, nothing has changed.
She went up the spiral staircase and walked down the hall to Dianas' room. She knocked.
The door swung opened, and there she stood, smiling. Laura couldn't help but smile back.
"Welcome back," she said handing Laura a Crunch chocolate bar.
Her favorite.
Perhaps she didn't forget me after all, Laura thought.
Diana pulled her in and sat her on the bed.
"I'm glad you made it! The party doesn't start till 8 so we have plenty of time to get dolled up!"
She ran to her closet and fished in it. She pulled out a long silky blood stain red dress with a lace back side and eye inviting front.
Diana smiled at Laura and her shocked expression. Lauras' eyes saying everything for her.
There's no fucking way you're putting me in that...
"Oh yes, you're sooo wearing this tonight! Come on, it's time for the.Ugly Duckling to grow into a beautiful Swan!"
Laura ignored the fact she was called ugly. That wasn't something new.
"Will you make me pretty, Danny?"
Laura said, calling her by her old nickname.
Diana smiled," you can count on it."
~Diana~
She really had been sincere when she told Laura she wanted to patch up their broken friendship. Laura had always been there for her and what did she do? Throw her away like she was a doll, just because she got new toys. She sighed and fell back on her bed. Laura was using the rest room to take another shower. Giving Diana enough time to think about what she was going to do with Laura's hair. She wasn't technically that pretty. She was...well ok. Normal. And at their school, normal was ugly. But lucky for her, she had a nice body working for her so she wasn't too bad. She just needed a push. The black heads on her face will be gone, she'll make her hazel eyes shine like the sun. She figure something out about her hair. It's not really that long.
Laura came back in, Dianas' towel wrapped around her.
She smiled at her and tilted her head to the side.
"You have nice legs ya know."
She blushed, "thanks."
Diana smiled and giggled.
She didn't know that this was going to be the beginning of something else. She didn't know she was about to create a monster. All she knew, was that she was helping out a friend. Maybe if she knew what was going to happen she wouldn't have done it.
