Dead silence.

Ever since the start of our ride the only thing I could hear is the car's machine. My dad wouldn't talk to me nor my mom. It was like he was having a relationship with the steering wheel. My mom pretended to be busy with her phone and what was I supposed to do? Would this go on for five hours? Exactly what is going on with them? Something was freaking them out but they wouldn't tell me!

Should I start to be worried? Are they having some sort of problems like husband-wife thingy? Were they fighting before I got home?

"Dad? Can I have the letter?" I blurted out of nowhere

My father pointed a silver attache case that he always uses when he goes to work and mom took it as a sign before ransacking the poor thing. I silently winced. On a normal day, she would carefully look and even took her time to find something. She was a neat freak minus the shrieking whenever she saw something out of order. Now I am having this weird thought that maybe they were mad at me for frightening my dad or something. They could just yell at me, could have scolded me...at least they are saying anything. At least I would know the reason why they're giving me this silent treatment.

Mom handed me the letter without even glancing my way. She only extended her free hand and well---I got the letter and muttered some thanks. Ugh.

And the familiar feeling that hit me the first time I laid my eyes on the seal was back again...and this time it was even stronger. My heart pounding like crazy like its going to explode from my chest. Cold sweat trickling down my forehead and a wave of nausea made me touch my stomach without even knowing where to pressure press it. I am overreacting over some red seal! I thought to myself.

I closed my eyes and count to five before I open them again and got the letter from the envelope. Even though I already knew what was the letter all about I couldn't help but wonder why the man behind this letter---threw a homecoming for us. Is he a friend of dad and mom's?

Good day!

It is our great pleasure to hear that after years of being away, you decided to be back to our hometown. As a token of our gratitude, we would like to hold a homecoming party for the Snow family. In this manner, we would also like to formally introduce my son as the new alpha. It would be an honor.

M.T

Alpha?? The word was not strange to me at all! What was my dad had to do with this M.T? Was that the reason why he---of all people quit on the job he loved?

Because he is a gangster? Call of brotherhood? I rolled my eyes and snorted before throwing this damn letter next to me.

I knew better than to open my mouth---rant about this whole situation and start a fight amongst us. I could just pretend to not know. Like them pretending I was not even here.

My dad suddenly parked the car and as I looked around we were on a supermarket. He unbuckled his seatbelt first and went out of the car and closed his side of door. He scanned the parking area like he was looking for something doubtful. I heard my mom unbuckled her seatbelt and spoke to me while fixing her hair.

"Hon, do not wander. Stay by my side. Is that understood Melanie?" she looked at me through the side mirror and gave me those please-understand-me look

Seriously?? I'm not some five year old kid for you to tell me not to wander off thank you very much! ," 'kay,"

"Let's go. Dad is waiting,"

We both got out and went our way inside the store while my dad is in his unusual pace. We walked like if we could stay 5 minutes longer we were gonna be punished! And to make matters worse, my mom was holding my arm like she was holding me for her dear life.
