"I am Melanie by the way," I extended my arm,"and you are?" I smiled and tried my hardest to not make them shaky
He reached for my hand and shook it slightly, "De---,"
And that was when it hit me like a punch.
I didn't get to know his name.
I didn't get to know his name.
I didn't get to know his name.
I kept on saying this inside my head as I slapped both of my cheeks. Dad just made the worst possible entrance of all time he could have made.
What am I?? A high school?!
But...a little crush won't hurt me, will it?
"Honey, you would look like a tomato if you keep on doing that," my mom looked my way and gave me a smile
She could have given me that smile hours ago but now it looked nothing but bizzare. Like seriously? She decided to ignore me one time and be this sweet and normal mother the next? And yet, no matter how bizzare her smile was, it actually made me feel a little bit better. The way her eyes lit up everytime she smiles just plants in your mind and there is nothing you could do but feel everything is like back into its place.
I extended my right hand...and she willingly took it ,"I guess somebody just made me a tomato mom," I beamed a smile
"Your hand," but instead she replied and took my other hand ,"but...no. Mike?"
Within a split of second, they were back to their eye chat. Yes, eye chat. Not a single word, or even the faintest sound has been said, but they completely understood what one has to say. Not that I haven't seen them do this before--- Ali and I could even do eye chat, but with them, I was starting to think that they saw words coming out from each others eyes.
How creepy was that?
And what's the deal with my hands anyway? They are perfectly fine.
"Mike,"
Somehow my mom still managed to suffice a weak smile when she returned her gaze to me even though I knew she was shaky inside. No matter how much she tried to hide it, she was just as transparent as I am.
"Mom...what is h-happening? Why are you fretting over my hands? I-I mean they are fine and yet you---"
"Melanie---,"
"Zip it Melanie! Shiela...we will tell her once we..."
My dad finally talked to me! He gave me a piercing look through the side mirror and lingered for a second. His brows knitted together and I swear I could see veins on his face from here. I snapped my focus to mom and she just nodded.
How can I just zip it? I knew right from the moment I went home from Ali's that something was wrong but they have kept it hidden! I mean--- I am eighteen and I am legal to know every issue my family is facing too! And from the looks of it, I am the issue!
"I won't zip dad! I know something is up but you won't tell me! Mom!"
They just ignored the hell out of me.
My mom was trying to avoid my gaze and dad just went on driving. I could hear their heavy breathing but their mouth were just as straight as a line.
I wouldn't break down in front of them. I wouldn't dare give them more reasons to not trust me from whatever it is they are hiding. But my eyes were heating up and I could already feel a tear on the verge of falling. I looked out at the window and was taken aback from the familiarity of the area.
