One

"Ashanti!"

Ashanti groaned as she turned to the other side.

"Ashanti!"

She registered the voice as her mother's but she was too sleepy to get up. "Why?", she thought to herself in annoyance.

"Ashanti, wake up!" The voice was louder and Ashanti let out a groan. "What does she want?", she mumbled into her pillow.

The door opened and her mother walked in. "Wake up, young lady," Abigail said as she walked over to the large window and opened the curtain blinds.

"Blood of Jesus!" Ashanti whined as she covered her face with her blanket. "Get your lazy self up," her mother said.

"Good morning to you too, mother. My night was beautiful, thank you for asking," Ashanti said sarcastically as she stood up from the bed and began to make it back.

"It's too early for your sarcasm, don't you think?" Abigail asked her daughter with a raised brow. Ashanti flashed her a sly grin, I learnt from the best.

Abigail rolled her eyes. "You helping me in the garden today," she said as she approached the door. "It's a Saturday!" Ashanti cried out in agony. Her mother rolled her eyes at her drama.

"Take a bath and come down for breakfast. Don't get mad if the boys don't leave anything for you to eat," she said and walked out.

"I'll roast their dicks like meat," Ashanti mumbled as she walked into her bathroom. After spending about twenty minutes taking a bath and dressing up, she covered her hair in a bonnet and walked out of her room.

She was wearing a flowery and free gown since her mother said she was going to help in the garden. She walked down the stairs and walked into the large living room.

Some if her father's men were in the living room. "Good morning, guys," she greeted them. They smiled at her. "Morning to you too, Ash."

She smiled back and walked into the dining room where her brother sat at the head with some men around the table, seated.

"She arrives, finally," David, her brother said. Ashanti rolled her eyes as she went to hug him. "Good morning," she greeted and took his plate of pancakes before making her way to her seat which was far from his.

David scowled at her before signaling for the maid to bring another plate of food for him. Ashanti grinned in victory.

"Boss, King has arrived at the place," one of the men said as he walked in. My brother looked up at him and nodded. "Tell the guys to start moving," he said to him and the man nodded before living.

They all belonged to the Mafia. The king the man was referring to was Ashanti and David's father, Christopher Edwards.

"When will you be back?" Ashanti asked as she chewed her viewed. David shrugged, "We won't be long. But I think we'll be back by eight at night if not earlier." His sister let out a sigh and gulper down her glass of grape juice.

"Just don't die," she said as she finished her food. David let out laugh as he stood up. His other men began to leave, one after the other. Ashanti stood up with her empty plate in her hands and went to grab his.

David wrapped his arms around his little sister and pulled her in a hug. "I'm serious, you guys should not loose anyone," she mumbled into his chest. "Aye, aye, captain," David said and kissed her forehead as the pulled away.

They both knew that death was something that was common in the Mafia. Even though, Ashanti cared for every member of their Mafia. The Black Hawk Mafia had a close bond.

"I don't want to be late. I'll see you later," David said as he made his way to the exit. "Say hi to dad for me, " she said to him. David gave her a thumbs up, "Will do."

"I hate you, " Ashanti glared at her best friend, Nina. Nina gave her an innocent look as she looked at her phone. "What did I do?" She asked.

"Why did you give him my number?" Ashanti asked her. Nina rolled her eyes and sat cross legged. "Babe, you need a lover, " she said and Ashanti rolled her eyes.

"I don't have time for that," she said. Nina rolled her eyes again. "Fine, but you need to get laid. Besides, Oscar is very good in bed," she said and Ashanti felt her cheeks heat up. "I don't care about that!" She exclaimed and buried her head in her pillow making Nina laugh.

"Just give the guy a chance," Nina said and Ashanti shook her head. "You and I both know how dangerous our world is. I can' t risk both my life and his. That's the main reason I don't want to involve myself in things like that," she said to Nina. Her best friend sighed.

"Don't blame me if you die a virgin," Nina said as she stood up. "Bitch," Ashanti threw her pillow at her making her fall on the ground and let out a laugh.

Nina had been her best friend since diaper days. They both attended the same university and we're in their third year. Nina loved law while Ashanti loved medicine.

Nina's father worked for Ashanti's father as his right hand man. After making David the don, Nina's older brother, Mavin, also David's best friend was made the right hand man.

"Girls!" they heard Ashanti's mother call.

"We're coming!" Ashanti yelled as they went out of the room. We went down the stairs. "We have school tomorrow," Nina mentioned and Ashanti groaned as they got to the bottom of the stairs. They walked into the living room and a scream left their mouths.

"Oh my God!" Ashanti cried out as she ran to hug her elder sisters and Nina went next. "Oh my God. I must be dreaming!" Ashanti exclaimed as she pulled away to study her sisters closely.

"France made you look like different," Nina said to them and they laughed. Mabel, the eldest, pulled the both of them in a hug. "I missed you too so much," she said to them. "Does Henry know you're here?" Ashanti asked her. "Yeah, I wanted to spend sometime with you guys," Mabel told her.

Ashanti turned to her other sister, Makayla who was talking to their mother. "Did you miss Kode so much that you wanted to see him again?" she teased.

"Cunning she-devil," Makayla thought to herself and shook her head.
