POV: Ke'Koa
The fire was around me, surrounding me. Everything was distorted, and foggy, I was pulling away from something. A voice echoed but I couldn't hear any unidentifiable words. Tears filled my eyes and ashes were smeared on my face.
I woke up breathing heavily, tears were forming in my eyes. I got from my bed and walked quietly to the beach. When I reached the shore, I plopped down on the sand laying back. What does this dream mean? Is someone coming to hurt us?
I sit up and look out at the ocean, sound was so peaceful. I take my knife out, I twirl it around my hand, I toss it back and forth between my hands.
"Hey, are yo-" out of reflex I throw the knife to the person who was speaking. It was Neteyam, he fell back on the sand holding his arm. "Neteyam? Oh, ma Eywa." I ran to him looking at the arm he was holding. His face was scrunched up with a look of pain. I removed his hand from his arm and there wasn't even a scratch. He began to laugh hysterically, he was acting to be hurt.
I push him on the chest, " You, Skxawng. Why would you do that? Not funny. Asshole." He laughed again making me smile. I push him again and his arms accidently grab my arms. I stop as does he, the freckles on his skin glowed like his eyes. My hear flutters and heat rises to my face. He lifted his hand to my face, leaned closer, he looked at my eyes then to lips. He pressed his lips to mine slowly, his lips smooth and soft. He pulls back looking in my eyes then kisses me again. He grabs my leg placing my on top of his legs. His arms hugged me close as he kissed my collarbone sweetly, I push off him. "No, no. No we can't." I say with confusion in a whisper. I look down trying to block out any want to kiss him again.
"Is that really what you want?" He said pushing a curl out of my face. He lifted my head to look at him. I leaned close to him again, his hot breathe on mine.
"I am destined. I'm sorry." I say. I get up and grab my knife from the sand and run the my hut.
When I reached my hut I saw a light on. Father, I walked through the hut to se my father on my bed, he was spinning a knife in his hand.
"Why were you at the beach?" He asked. He stands up shaking the knife at me.
"I couldn't sleep thought I would go sit." I said guilty.
"Who's the boy?" I shuddered at the question. He would kill me if I told him, I was destined for Aonung.
"Aonung. I was with Aonung." I lied.
"Are you that close now?" He asked. Thinking of Aonung in that way made me want to gut myself.
"Umm, yeah. I guess we are?" I lied again. My stomach turned and flipped.
"Then why don't we do the ceremony soon?" He asked with a grin on his face.
"What? No. I'm not-" I said yelling. He got angry and slapped me hard, I landed on the floor.
"It is decided. I will talk to Tonowari." He left the hut, I began to breath heavy and tears stream down my face.
POV: Neteyam
The next day was odd everything bugged me. Last night was perfect and then again not, who is she destined for? Did she love him?
"Leave us alone." I heard Kiri's voice.
"He's not normal," A boys said. I ran to see what is going to see four or five boys surrounding Lo'ak and Kiri. I reached the scene to hear, "Aw, Baby tail, its so cute." from a boy. I grabbed the first boy to me a pushed him back, it was Aonung.
"You heard what she said. Back. Off. Now" a boy to talk back when Aonung push him back. "And from now on I need you to respect my sister." I pulled Lo'ak away from the boys and walked away with Kiri. "Let's go." the boys started to laugh and said five-fingered freak.
Lo'ak turned back and walked to Aonung, "Lo'ak" I said trying to stop him.
"I got this bro." He said. "I know this hand is funny. Look I'm a freak. Alien." He showed Aonung his hand sticking out his pinky. "But it can do something really cool. Watch. First I ball it up real tight like this. Ok. Then." Lo'ak punches Aonung in the face making him fall to the sand. I smiled at this. "It's called a punch, bitch. Don't you ever touch my sister again." Aonung bolted forward knocking Lo'ak to the floor but not getting a punch in because Lo'ak hit him first. The other boys grabbed his tail pulling him off and then getting smacked on the face with one of their fat tails. It wasn't fair and I have always love blowing off steam. I scratched my head and smiled then joined the fight. I punched on guy in the face and kneed another to the gut. I got tackled by two others when Kiri said, "guys this is stupid. Come on Ke'Koa tell them." Her name got my attention giving a guy the chance to to get a hit busting my lip. I flipped him over my head to land behind me. Ke'Koa walked up to the fight and push another guy off me, "Get off him. Ma Eywa." I stood up next her trying to get the other guys of Lo'ak. The others saw Ke'Koa and stopped but Aonung didn't.
Aonung got up off Lo'ak and punched me, knocking me into Ke'Koa. I got up punching him making him fall to the ground. "Are you okay? Why are you here? You could have got hurt, wait are you?" I lifted her up examining her body for any injures.
"I'm fine I promise." Smiling at him. He grabbed my hands and kissed my knuckles. I looked at Aonung who was seething with rage.
He hissed and yelled, "You Skxawng, she is promised to me."
