Scene 1 - Zhu Zanjin and Ji Li

"Why the heck do you have so much frosting on your face?" Zhu Zanjin questioned as he walked into the kitchen to get some water when he saw his fiancé with a piping bag with pink colored icing.

Yes, you read it right. The two Betas were together. Who would've known the best friends who would bicker nonstop would get together in the end and even got engaged. It happened when they got their degree and decided to get in a relationship when they realized they had feelings for each other. It took them only two years before Ji Li proposed. Now they lived together in Shanghai with their very own apartment and their sugar glider named Big Mac, which Zanjin fell for it at first sight and adopted it, and now the sugar glider was like their baby.

"I was making cupcakes." Ji Li moved aside to show him the eight cupcakes on the kitchen counter with seven cupcakes representing the seven colors of the rainbow. He only had to make seven, but he didn't want it to be an odd number, so he added another one with no food coloring.

"I can see that, but why are you so messy?" The older Beta shook his head at the other before going up to him and getting a tissue out of a tissue box, then wiping the other's mouth.

"This is my first time making cupcakes!" Ji Li pouted as the older finished cleaning up his face and throwing the tissue away.

"You still didn't have to be so messy. Why didn't you just call me and I'll make it?" Zanjin raised his eyebrows at him, the younger's shoulders dropped down in sadness.

The older noticed the change in attitude and blinked in confusion. Did he say something wrong?

"Yeah, I'm not a good cook or a good baker like you are, but I was trying to do something for you!" The younger slowly put the piping bag away with a frown.

"Why though? You don't need to do anything for me." The older crossed his arms, not really getting it. There wasn't anything special going on, was there? If his memory was good, he would know that their anniversary had already passed. There was nothing left.

"Babe, do you not know it's your birthday today?"

Zanjin repeatedly blinked, one after another. Today was his birthday? How could he not remember it?

"So that's why you didn't say anything about it." Ji Li cracked up a small giggle after seeing his fiancé's confused expression.

"And that's why you were making cupcakes. It isn't really like you to go to the kitchen to bake." Zanjin sweetly smiled, his adorable dimples showing which the younger loved very much. The older was always attractive, but the dimples just added an extra cuteness to him.

"Why cupcakes though? Why not a cake? Wouldn't it have been easier for you because you only have to think of one design to do it? Here you are, making eight cupcakes with eight different designs and colors."

Ji Li then felt dumbfounded. Right, you usually had a cake for birthdays. For some reason, he was craving cupcakes this day and decided to make it instead of one big cake.

"I uhh... because you get to blow out eight candles on eight different cupcakes? And because you're turning 8 years old?"

Zanjin laughed at his lover's words, "If I'm 8 years old, doesn't that mean you're a dating a child? Sir, you are a pedo."

Ji Li blushed in embarrassment. That did sound creepy if you put it that way.

The older just gave him another chuckle and kissed the other's cheek, "Put that aside. Thanks for taking your time to make this for me. You're very sweet, but can I take part in decorating the cupcakes?"
