"So let me get this straight, you want me to break into a prison?"

"To put it simply, yes."

"And who, pray tell, am I retrieving?" I was mainly concerned that the risk wasn't worth the reward, so I was very skeptical of this mission. If it wasn't an efficient use of resources, and this goes without saying, it wouldn't be worth it.

"Spectre." My jaw solidified its place on the floor. Giggling like a giddy school child, I sat up, invested now.

"Oh, you have my attention."

"Good, because this is important. You get in there, you reach Spectre, and you tell him I sent you. He'll come with you willingly after that."

"And if he refuses?"

"He won't."

"Good enough for me." I stood up, completely trusting that Harr- Mason wouldn't be wrong. And on the very low chance that he was, I guess I'd just improvise. "What's my team looking like for this one, Mason?"

"Reaper, ten foot soldiers, and a bomber. Use them wisely."

I shook his hand, before walking out, checking my canisters. They were full, but I didn't recognize the liquid immediately. It must've been replaced by basic lighter fluid or something. I made a mental note to let Mason know.

In the week I've been with Mason and his White Masks, there were only changes happening. This was my first mission, but I was spending the whole time training with Reaper on tactics and learning each other's method of operating. I'm my free time, I talked with Nero, learning more about him, and all the standard formalities when you first meet someone. When I got back, I was going to see about getting him put on my team. The bomb in his neck would discourage him from attempting anything, and he would have the operator training to keep up.

I was torn from my thoughts as I was approached by my robotic partner.

"Hello, Krystof. This unit is fully locked, loaded, and combat ready." Reaper said, as I nodded in agreement.

"Same here, buddy. We got a small force with us. Nothing much, but still a few more people." I said as I holstered a .45, the newest addition to my arsenal, on my thigh.

"Mason has informed this unit about backup."

"Good." The experimental robot was a unique teammate, perhaps the most perfect I've ever had. But that was only on paper. Of course the tests against lifeless dummies would be simple for a robot. But human opponents, that would be different. Humans had a tendency to be less predictable than inanimate objects.

We walked out to our vehicle, a CV-22 Osprey. It was a bit surprising to see it was operational, since the only ones I've ever seen were grounded.

We all loaded on, with Reaper and I sitting closest to the ramp.

"Are we all good back there?"

"Yeah, get this bird in the air!" I shouted back, as I leaned forward with my hands folded. Deep down, I was expecting Marius, but after the pilot spoke I realized it wasn't.

It was a disappointing, almost depressing thought. I remembered the fun we had when I was at Rainbow. Not just with Marius, but with everyone. The Russians, Elias, Oliver.. Tina. We were close.

"You were too close, Krystof. Especially with that Canadian bitch. Love is dead, and it will only succeed in hurting you."

I nodded to myself. He was right. Love gets you hurt, gets you killed. The best thing to do is not be attached to them.
