"L!" you exclaim as L pounced onto you on the bed. His eyes shot to you, giving an innocent look.
"Yes?" he said, trailing a finger around your collar bone. Blush heated your cheeks immensely, and you begin to fidget under your lover.
"T-there's cameras all over the building," you spoke quietly, "What if there's one in here too?" L paused for a second, seeming to be thinking about it. Then, a devilish grin grew on his face, and he leaned into you.
"Then let them watch," he breathed into your ear, causing your entire face to heat up."_______?" you heard L say, and you quickly snapped from your less-than-innocent fantasy. Your head shot up from the table you were sitting at.
"Yessir?" you said urgently. L had been watching you space out for the past few minutes from where he stood. Even you knew that this guy had to think you were pretty strange by this point.
"You were daydreaming again," he pointed out. You simply nodded, and stood up from your seat. It was time to get to work, anyway. As you walked past L, he spoke again, "What exactly were you thinking about to make you blush like that?" This made you freeze in place. The only movement coming from you was your hand reaching up to feel your cheek. It was hot. You were blushing as much as were in the fantasy. How could you explain this?
"Uh...I was at school in only my underpants..." you lied, "It was really embarrassing..." This was so bullcrap. You sat in your chair, lazily watching the computer screens in front of you. This was boring. It wasn't what you had in mind when you offered to take shifts with L, but what could you really expect? Glancing over to your right, you could see L sitting next to you in his usual position. His eyes seemed glued to the screens as he watched intently. You've been working with him for how long now? Since the start of the Kira investigation, you suppose. In all that time of knowing L, he's rarely ever gone out, and had never seemed to do so unless he needed to.
Quickly, your gaze darts back to the screens when you see his head twitch a bit as if he was going to look over at you. "Something wrong, ________?" you heard him ask. With a sigh, you turn your head toward him. He was looking right at you. His face looked curious, in a way.
"How are you so sure that she's the second Kira?" you ask in return, pointing to one of the various screens that showed a girl you've come to know as Misa Amane. At first, L stayed silent. He turned his head back to the screens, pressing the tip of his index finger on his bottom row of teeth.
"I'm not entirely sure she is," he admitted a bit quietly, "But I'm not entirely sure she isn't, either. That means she could very well be the second Kira. In the mean time, we should keep an eye out for anything suspicious."
"And Light? You still think he's Kira?" you asked, adjusting yourself in your seat so that you sat on your feet.
"Didn't I already explain all this to you before?" L replied as he glanced over to you. With a huff, you rest your head in your hand, your cheek pressing into your palm, on the desk in front of you.
"Yeah, I'm just trying to create conversation," you mumble, "How can you stand doing this the whole time?" You noticed L do something of a half-shrug, but he didn't bother to turn to you. Instead, he kept his concentration on the screens which you couldn't help but feel a little annoyed about. "I mean, you're at a computer screen almost all the time! Don't you ever bother to go outside, and get some fresh air?"
"Yes," He said plainly. His eyes were still glued to the screens.
"I mean somewhere else besides the rooftop."
"Where are you going with this, ________?" L asked, still watching the screens.
"Do you want to go out?" you spurted out. You quickly froze from the shock of your own words. That's not how it was suppose to come out at all! But it got L's attention. He seemed to stiffen before turning his head to look at you.
"Excuse me?" His voice carried quite a bit of surprise in it when he spoke. Crap.
"Uh-I-I meant...I meant would...you like to go...err...Would like to go with me to get some fresh air? I-it's good for the mind, I heard," you stuttered awkwardly as you straightened in your seat, and scratched the back of your head nervously. L stayed silent after that awkward moment for a while. He returned to watching the screens, looking as if he was deep in thought. Of course, he always seemed deep in thought to you so you didn't really think anything of it. Instead, you slouched back in your chair, insulting your own stupidity repeatedly in your head.
"Very well," L said after what seemed like forever. Your head perked up at those words, and you tried in vain to hide a smile. "We'll go as soon as Matsuda and Soichiro take their shifts." That was hours from now, but it was something. So you accepted it with glee, and went back to watching the boring screens with as much enthusiasm as you could possibly muster up at this late hour.
