In 2018, the world came to a standstill when half of the universe disappeared, following the destruction left behind by a titan from galaxies away. Families torn apart, friends vanished, with those left behind struggling to continue living from day to day. Travis Kessler had known his life was about to change in ways he could hardly imagine the spring before leaving for college, but in the wake of the carnage left behind in the decimation, moving across the country became nothing more than the fresh start he so desperately needed.
As a new world emerged from the devastation, full of fear and doing whatever it takes to keep moving forward to see another day, few were left without skeletons in their closets, and Travis was no exception. To him, a piece of his moral compass was a small price to pay if it meant a roof over his head and helping to locate some of the world's most unseemly characters for people in much higher places than his own. Although, as the years pass, and the world rights itself again due to sacrifices made by Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Travis is willing to lock his skeletons away once and for all, and move forward into what he hopes can finally be a normal life.
However, when news about a villain who had mysteriously gone off the grid years before suddenly pops back up in New York City, and an old friend shows up on Travis's doorstep asking to help her track down the man responsible for murdering her sister, the lines dividing his past and present are blurred more than he ever thought possible. And, if he isn't careful, the skeletons in his closet might just tear apart his future in the process.
