Chapter 3

Cavin's POV
"Hey dad will you ride with us to the school so I can drive Roses car back and you can drive my truck ?" I ask my dad once we all get outside after eating. "Yes of course." He unwraps his arm from around my mom and gives her a gentle kiss on her lips before walking this way. "So want me to go ahead and drive?" He asks me. "Yes sir I'll sit in the back with Oak," I reply smiling after I close Rose's door. I jog to the other side of the truck and hope in and slide to the middle putting my seatbelt on. "so rose I hear you played at the sandlot back in California," My dad says trying to make conversation with her. "Oh yes sir I did I loved it too everyone still talks about you to ," she says smiling at him. "Oh I believe they were still taking about it when I left , and I loved it to like you but then he came along and I enjoyed even more," he says while he nudges his head at me. "That's a lie you liked it less cause you had to actually leave the sandlot and take me home to eat and nap," I argue with him. "Yea he's got a point. but I liked having him there" "no you didn't," I say aloud looking down at my phone. "Yea he's right I hated it cause I couldn't play play," he says making Rose laugh. I smile knowing she's happy.

When we get down the road from the school' Oaklynn starts crying probably ready for more milk. I reach my hand in her car seat and put her pacifier back in her mouth and grab her little hand saying, "Hey hey your ok little miss its ok. You can eat In just a few minutes cause we are almost to the school. yes we are yes we are,," I coo at the the sweet girl. "You really are a sucker," My dad comments. I know exactly what he's referring to and I flip him off in the rear view mirror and he just laughs. We pull in to the school and get right beside her car. "Ok so do you wanna keep riding with my dad so you don't have to get the baby out and ill just drive your car or do you want to switch her?" I ask Rosalee. "Oh she's hungry so we should get her out, so she can eat and that way she won't scream the whole way home," she says turning her head to look at me. "ok sounds good I'll get her for you then," I say opening my door and getting out before jogging over and opening Rose's door first then going and opening the back door to get the car seat. "Ok we will meet you at the house dad," I say through the door. "Alright buddy I'll see you there. Drive safe I love you kid." "I love you too dad."

"Hey I know your hungry sweet girl just give me a few minutes," Rose says to the little girl in her arms. She fixes her self and finally is able to get her latched on. "So Rose we are gonna be here for a little while why don't we get to know each other more then the basics, cause getting to know you is something I really wanna do," I say once I'm in the car where I actually can drive it. Man she's short. "Well I think that's a great idea cause I wanna get to know you too," She tells me smiling up at me.

"Oh I know baby I know it's cold out here after a warm bath I know lets just get some lotion on you and then you can get in some warm Pjs and mama can give you some milk and you can go to sleep, Yea how does that sound," I ask the newborn as I Lay her on the changing table. I told Rose she could go down stairs and get some hot chocolate or some type of snack Before she goes to bed with Oaklynn, because I know girls get hungry breastfeeding so I offered to get her ready for bed, plus I bet she needs just a little break. "You know I think Ronnie is really your bio mom Cause you do really take on the roll of dad just like she did as mom," Rose comes in saying. "I don't know what your talking about, I'm just being caring to the sweet baby," I turn around saying. "No Cavin your acting like a dad and maybe Rose will get what you had growing up after all," Rose says walking to her room. I smile and turn back to the sniffling baby and zip her sleeper so she's is a little more warm. 'Did she really mean that does she want me too,' I think to myself as I pick upOak and watch her do her adorable scrunch before I bring her to my chest and carry her her room. "Ok little Princess goodnight I'll see you in the morning," I say to the newborn in my arms before I hand her to her mom whos already in the rocking chair. "and goodnight to you to pretty," I say to Rose leaning down to kiss Oaklynn's Head and Roses cheek. I lean back up and see a blush form on the cheek I just kissed and a smile on her Beautiful face I smile back at her. "Goodnight Handsome I hope Oak doesn't wake you up in the middle of the night," she says back looking down at her little girl. "I'm sure she won't and if she does I'll come in here and help you," I tell her as I walk to her bathroom to get to my room and shut the door leading to her room before I Brush my teeth and walk to my room to change in to pajamas. I walk out my door and head to my parents room. "Hey mamma I just wanted to say goodnight and thank you for allowing Rose to stay I couldn't handle the thought of her staying in her car," I say as I sit in the middle of their bed like I did when I was a toddler. "Of course honey and you know I can tell you like her," She says as she messes with my hair. "I do ma I really do and Oaklynn is just the cutest baby I mean the fact that her dad didn't want to be apart of her life makes me so angry," I tell her looking up from my spot in her lap. "She is isn't she, And I know it makes you mad cause you went through the same thing with your bio mom and she made me Really mad when she left and she may not have her bio dad but she has you and you took on the roll as dad like I did to mom to you, and I'm so proud of you baby cause I ca see the love forming in your eyes for both of them." "so I've been told that's what Rose said to well mines the love stuff." "Hey you little shit get out of my bed your not as small as you used to be," My dad says coming out of their bath room after a shower. "Mamma mamma help me don't let mean old dad take me away," I say getting under the covers just to piss off my dad. "Babyyyy tell your son to get out of my bedddddd," My dad wines to mom. "Boys enough Cavin go to your room and go to bed please It's getting late and you will wake up with that baby I can already tell," Mom says and pulls the blankets off me. I huff and get out of bed walking to the door I turn around and say, "Goodnight I love you guys." "I love you too too kid," Dad says walking over and kissing my head. "Night bubba I love you too," mom says as well. I smile at them both and turn around walking out the door making sure to leave it open a crack. I head back to my room and get in bed, I roll over again and again because all I can think about is Rose and that baby next door but I finally let sleep take over.
