Chapter 1: Brother

"If you're privileged, I hate you. What belongs to you, should be mine. Coveting thy neighbor's goods is my crime."

This is a story that questions the morality of good and evil. Story about where envy could lead to self-destruction. Story about the price of idleness. The price of greed. When we neglect to acknowledge what we put in our mouth. A story about how blinding love could be. How blinding wrath could be. A story about a man's journey for power, love, salvation, and redemption. 

His name is John. No middle nor last name. John is an average Caucasian man with blonde hair in his early 30's. He lived with his roommate Evaline, an Asian women also in her early 30's, in an apartment complex downtown.

John always felt that he's a lost cause, a burden to whoever around him, a waste of society. He's now an addict, an alcoholic, with no job and money. Although he sees himself as a failure, Evaline always hoped that she could turn John's life around. If it weren't for Evaline, he would've been dead or ended up in the asylum.

John wakes up by the sound of a door. It's his roommate Evaline.

"Wake up John it's 4.30 pm" scream Evaline from across the room.

"I'm not sleeping" said John walking towards the kitchen.

Evaline saw John's eyes were red a clear indication he's been using drugs again

"Your eyes are red, have you been using again?" Evaline concern.

"I'm not" said John.

"Then explain this u twat" grabing a bottle of pills inside the bin.

For the last few years John has been using drugs to keep his powers down. His powers came when he was 18, he saw his dead grandmother slashed face soul sitting in the living room. In this world, people needs to do quests or tasks to achieve magic or superhuman powers. There's the mozz who uses magic for good and gaiko for those uses magic for evil, and then there's John who uses magic for his own benefitial gain, both good or bad. He uses pills to temporarily stop his powers, so demons or other magic users couldn't get to him.

"Do you go to that job interview down at 12 st?" Asked Evaline,

"Oh shit! That's today? Fuck I forgot! I was.." said john interrupted by Evaline

"Drinking booze, using pills and eating whore's pussy apparently?!" said Evaline while looking towards his room and seeing a hooker sleeping.

Evaline is a doctor and like John she has powers. But she use it to save people who can't be saved. She has a soft spot for broken people, hence why she befriends John.

The door suddenly open and it's Chad, a powerful magic user and a CEO of a big company. He has a wife called Christine, who was John's ex-fling. Chad came wearing a black suit and white shirt. And also John's brother.

"Chad u mad lad! what are you doing here?" Ask john

"I was in town for a business meeting and decided to come by. How are you John?" Ask chad

For the rest of his life John tried to be someone, like Chad or maybe someone even better. All three of them chatted for a bit, talking about their childhood, while drinking cold beers, but john is always uncomfortable talking about their grandma, considering how close he was to their grandma. Talking about the past, John's life was a complete contrast from chad's, their parents died when he was 5 years old and chad was 10. They died because of the violence of the revolution, rumors have it that his dad was hanged and his mother was raped and killed. From then on they lived with their grandmother in poverty. When Chad's power came, he left them.

 John always takes care of his grandma. He loves her very much, then until his grandmother died and things got worse. Deepdown he hates Chad for leaving.
