Sitting atop a log, leaning beside the river as they watched the water flow and fish swimming peacefully through the water. The sun had began to set in the horizon. The sky colored with pink, purple, and orange hues.

"Certainly a beautiful sight isn't it?" One of them asked the other as they turned to them. Smiling slyly.

"Truly." The other responded. Not knowing the other had turned to them. The other admired them. The other laid a hand on their face, pushing back their hair and moving it aside.

"Not as beautiful as you, though." The other turned, a stunned look on their face. The other smiles at their face, chuckling.

"Huh?"

"You're adorable, my love." The other blushed at this and grabbed the others hand that was still on their face.

"You can't say things like that..." they muttered, nuzzling into their hand.

"Oh Y/n. Nothing will be as beautiful as you." Y/n shook his head. He looked up at his best friend. The man he has been friends with since he can remember. Y/n had always felt something for the man, even now as he held a hand to Y/n face, gently rubbing his cheek.

"Promise me, you'll marry me someday?" Y/n flushed a bright red. He slowly nodded.

"Promise..." Y/n smiled and set one of his own hands on the others chest. Placing his hand over the others heart. Feeling his heartbeat, steady and unchanging.

"I can't wait."

The man Y/n loved, dearly, handed him a small ring with his other hand, pulling the ring out from his pocket.

"You don't have to wear it. Most don't, but if you would like too. I got this for you." Y/n's eyes widened. The gold trim and both of their initials singed together on the inside of the ring. It was beautiful.

"I love it."

"No..."

Blood adorned the walls of their house. He had just gotten back from the store, hands that had carried the groceries suddenly let go of them. They dropped to the floor as he ran to his fiancé. His fiancé laying on the floor, blood adorning his face, eyes wide open, still breathing but it was ragged and slow.

"No... No, no, NO!!" Y/n dropped down to his knees, hand moving to his fiancés chest, checking his heartbeat. It was slowing rapidly.

"What happened!?" He yelled out tears brining the corners of his eyes. His fiancé just smiled up at him, slowly reaching up to put a hand on Y/n's face. Y/n used his other hand and moved the man on top his lap, head resting on his thighs as Y/n started to sob.

Their house had clearly been broken into, but it was no burglary, no, whoever destroyed their windows had intent. To take someone's life, and sadly it was his fiancé who payed the price.

"A woman.. I don't know exactly... what she looked like but... someone was with her... she had white hair...and red eyes.." his Fiancé spoke slowly, coughing between breaths. Y/n nodded.

"Okay... but don't speak anymore... your taking up all your strength.." the man shook his head. Y/n felt the hand on his face shake as an effort to keep it there. Y/n grabbed his hand and gave it a gentle kiss then a squeeze.

"You'll be okay! We'll get married and- and adopt children... and... we-...we'll.." Y/n squeezed his eyes shut as he choked back a sob. His fiancé, his best friend, whipped his tears away with a shaky, blood covered, thumb. Y/n's eyes opened and he looked down at the man he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

"Y/n..." Y/n shook his head.

"This can't be a goodbye! You cant leave me like this! You can't... I'll take care of you! And you'll get better. Then we can live the life we want..." Y/n sobbed into the man's hand. One of his hands covering the gashing wound across the others chest, trying to keep the blood from spilling out.

Y/n paused when his fiancé pulled his face down and kissed him. It was messy, and there was blood, the metallic taste making the kiss gross. But Y/n didn't care. He savored the kiss, kissing back with a gentleness they both favored.

Once they parted his fiancé's eyes gathered their own tears. Y/n knew at that moment there was no stopping what was coming next. So he settled to holding his fiancé close to his chest, one hand gently holding his head, and the other held his hand.

The carpet stained with blood, as well as his clothes.

He didn't want to say goodbye. He didn't want to watch the life slowly disappear from his fiancé's eyes. But he knew his fiancé wanted to know that Y/n would be there. So as Y/n looked down at his fiancé's face he let his tears fall as he started to speak in a soft voice.

"Don't worry my dear... you'll heal from this.. we'll have a beautiful wedding and have children... we'll be together forever and we'll grow and live happily." His fiancé gave a slow nod.

"Pro..mise..?" Y/n choked back a loud sob. Y/n smiled and kissed his lovers forehead.

"I- I promise..." Y/n kept his smile as his fiancé smiled right back. Genuine, bloody, and beautiful.

"I- ca..n't w...ait..."

Y/n squeezed his lovers hand and watched the light slowly disappear from his eyes..His smile never left though. Y/n, never moving, cried out, sobbing. His forehead meeting his lovers and he cried. He hugged the man he loved all his life close.

"I love you.. I love you so much..." this wasn't the goodbye he wanted.

Y/n sobbed harder as he closed his fiancés eyes and kissed him again. Y/n smiled despite himself.

"Goodbye..."
