"What'd I miss?" Mk said as the board he was on skidded and slammed into the other side of the street as he landed next to Mei, holding his staff.
He really wished Y/n had come along, but he guessed Y/n probably had something important to talk about with Monkey King so he could understand. Mei looked at him, looking panicked.
"Mk! What took you so long!?" She asked as Mk looked away.
"Sorry, sorry! Monkey King was having me do boring stuff." He shrugged. Mei looked around, confused by the absence of their friend.
"Where's Y/n!?"
"Oh, he's with Monkey King. He said he had to talk to him about something." He said, looking up at the large figure above them. It was entirely purple and looked like it had wrappings around its body. Some flowed near its body. Like a shadow.
"That the bad guy?" He says and hits the staff on the ground.
"Kay, be right back!"
"Wait, no, Mk don't–!" Mei yelled after him. He was about to attack it, but then one of the wrappings grabbed his leg and flung him back into the ground.
Mei gave Mk a frown.
"We already tried that." She said, looking over at Pigsy, who was on the ground with Sandy above him, dropping a small towel on him.
Suddenly, a figure rushed past them, jumping up on buildings.
"Is that–?" Mei covered her eyes from the light, blinking in confusion. Mk smiled.
"Monkey King!?"
He said in awe, watching as the figure was soon surrounded by what was like a tornado of purple wind, slowly became a small cloud, and flew away.
Mk was quick, rushing over buildings and jumping up to grab the ledge.
"Yes! Monkey King–" Mk yelled as he fell off, losing his grip. Before the guy turned around, Mk appeared in front of him.
"That was awesome! I can't believe you came back to–" Mk stopped, pausing and grinning nervously. This was embarrassing.
This guy was definitely not Monkey King - he had dark, almost pitch-black fur, and his scarf was a darker shade of red and much longer than Monkey Kings. The marking on his face was darker and had a larger pattern, the top fraying out into little points.
"Oh, you're not Monkey King." Mk laughed softly, embarrassed. The man laughed, crouching down on the ledge he was on.
"I get that a lot. Monkey Kid, right?" He said, scratching his cheek before pointing at Mk.
Mk gasped. "How did you–"
"The staff kinda gives you away, dude. Not just anyone can wield that thing."
